Just with the Kennedy engine mount it seems. I've got an EJ25 in my syncro using the smallcar engine mount system and the deck lid is stock.

I had good luck spraying them with WD-40/prenatrating oil or simular and twist a few times with a light grip from large vice grips. I then insert a huge screw driver thru the gap of the open jaws
