Re: Surveyor near Kennebunkport Maine
开云体育So the same question goes for George Gallup. I need an insurance survey in the fall. He did that for me on Mt Desert in 2020 as well as the pre purchase in 2015.?I’m not getting an answer to email or phone but he appears to still be operating, albeit under a different company name.? His reports are extremely thorough & he knows Sabres.? On Apr 24, 2025, at 7:35?AM, Alan via groups.io <alanpressman@...> wrote:

Re: Very Wet Bilge (another leak)
Agustin, If I am seeing the photo correctly, the bolt in question looks like it's just a connector for two grounds, i.e. the black wires. ?It sits right in front of and in the channel for a weep hole, so the water will always accumulate in that low channel from somewhere else. ?Where, I cannot say. Re: Very Wet Bilge (another leak)
Thank you. There's water weeping in from further aft. It looks like the channel hole(s) is at the boat's center-line and is far back enough that I can only imagine it is from scupper connections or rudder post. It's difficult to follow it any farther from the aft cabin so I will be going into the lazeret at the stern to see what's up. Removing that large cowl around the rudder post to have a look will not be fun.
I'm going to clean up the packing gland and, yes, it is leaking. Repacking is one of the things I'm going to work on. For a 1.25 inch shaft on a Sabre 425 with a W46, would I use 1/4 inch packing? ?
The haulout nearest to Montego Bay is 100 miles east. In the Caribbean, that means straight into the wind all the way and that means motoring for 24hrs. Once I get there (Port Antonio) there will be a travel lift and chocks, but no services, no labor, and no parts. I'm trying very hard to plan something workable and the sooner I can get out of here safely, the better life will be!
?
Thank you for all your help, everyone. It's appreciated and good to know I'm not fully alone with these problems.

开云体育Sorry I didn’t answer completely… the rest was in my head! ? It is a ground for something. Possibly a ground system, a lightning bond, an SSB, refrigeration etc.Allison Lehman Swiftsure Yachts allison@... Cell: 510.912.5800 Fax: 510.860.4640

Re: Very Wet Bilge (another leak)
开云体育Augustine, that is a ground. ?Your packing gland should not be green. ?I suspect that is a big source of leakage. It looks like you have had standing water there for a while. ?You should take a bronze brush to the packing gland and clean it up and make sure it isn’t leaking.Allison Lehman Swiftsure Yachts allison@... Re: 34-2 Targa Propane Conversion
Jeff, vertical stored vertically.? On the Targas the CNG locker was configured differently.? They're in the aft/port locker, in a near vertical configuration. On Wed, Apr 23, 2025 at 1:01?PM Jeff Bartlett via <Jhbartlett=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Very Wet Bilge (another leak)
Is the area on the other side of the weep hole, aft of the bolt in your picture, dry? If not, the water may be coming from someplace farther aft.? You would have to look on the outside to see what is attached to the other end of the bolt. It might be a zinc or a ground plate.? Be ready to stop a much faster leak if you try to tighten it, in case it crumbles away or breaks?off. On Wed, Apr 23, 2025 at 12:34?PM Augustin via <classical=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: 34-2 Targa Propane Conversion
开云体育The 34 after-cabin has a vertical locker. Thus, they are vertical tanks. It made that part of the conversion process easier. Scott On Apr 23, 2025, at 1:01?PM, Jeff Bartlett via groups.io <Jhbartlett@...> wrote:

Re: Very Wet Bilge (another leak)
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this forum, but I found yet another leak (picture attached). Does anyone know what this bolt is on the upper left-hand corner is about? It has a black wire attached that goes to (or comes from) the engine area somewhere. The bolt leaks and leaves a path of water that goes into the bilge.
?
This morning there was significantly less new water accumulated in the bilge so there has been a significant improvement since yesterday.

Re: 34-2 Targa Propane Conversion
开云体育Justin, I did the conversion to propane last year. I now have two 6# aluminum cylinders in the locker. The only modification to the locker was a ventilated false bottom. These cylinders are shorter, so the false bottom makes them easier to reach. It also keeps them from sitting in a pool of water that sometimes collects at the bottom of the locker. 34-2 Targa Propane Conversion
Good morning, all.??
?
I've done a forum search for a propane conversion on a 34-2 Targa, but haven't found a thread I thought I'd seen before.? Can anyone confirm that 6 pound tanks will fit in the lockers in a 34-2 Targa? I've found some comments on the net suggesting that they will, but no photos.

Thanks Dave. ?Good advice regarding the blue tape and the clear silicone. ?I was hoping someone would report success with a narrow bead around the glass. ?Didn’t really want to rip it out if I got the width wrong.

Andy, Thanks for the update on the powder coating. ?I’ll probably leave them as they are because they’re not in bad shape and the solar budget is taking precedence. ?
