If I am seeing the photo correctly, the bolt in question looks like it's just a connector for two grounds, i.e. the black wires. ?It sits right in front of and in the channel for a weep hole, so the water will always accumulate in that low channel from somewhere else. ?Where, I cannot say.

It looks like the channel hole(s) is at the boat's center-line and is far back enough that I can only imagine it is from scupper connections or rudder post. It's difficult to follow it any farther from the aft cabin so I will be going into the lazeret at the stern to see what's up. I'm going to clean up the packing gland and, yes, it is leaking. Repacking is one of the things I'm going to work on. For a 1.25 inch shaft on a Sabre 425 with a W46, would I use 1/4 inch packing?

The haulout nearest to Montego Bay is 100 miles east. In the Caribbean, that means straight into the wind all the way and that means motoring for 24hrs. Once I get there (Port Antonio) there will be a travel lift and chocks, but no services, no labor, and no parts. I'm trying very hard to plan something workable and the sooner I can get out of here safely, the better life will be!
