Garboard drains

bwright847

Okay, I'm aboard. Now how about a drain for the bilge. I know some of
you have done this. I'm thinking it should go on the vertical wall of
the bilge as far down by the top of the keel (bottom of the bilge
where the bolts come out) as it will go. Any suggestions?

Source for draw latches

Looking for source for draw latches - the kind where you stick your finger inside hole to release.? I believe they are plastic latches - I broke a few of mine and now need replacements.? Thanks.

Re: Garboard drains

Too bad, the centerboard models have one built in for the factory harpoon tool to "encourage" the board to go down when it sticks. For the winter, you just unthread the cap...?

Re: Source for draw latches

On my 32 they are all bronze including the latch pieces that screw into the frame.
I have always found it a nightmare to get them tight enough to not vibrate when motoring, but still open when I have to get something out.? I have gone to getting them a smiggen loose and then puttign some 1/8" insultation tape with adhesive (the 1" wide stuff in a roll from Home Depot) into unseen edges.? Not a rattle to be found when motoring...
?
Same tape is a godsend on the lazzerette hatches and anywere else you detect a buzzing when motoring.

Re: Garboard drains

Your only problem then is to find a sufficiently flat enough surface
on the outside hull above the keel to be able to mount the flange,
before you drill the hole. Scary thought.

Bahamas - Davits .

dacs142003

We are in the late planning stages of semi-retirement next year and
leaving Lake Champlain for the south USA and Bahamas in
September/October 2006.
One of our preparatory jobs is to fit davits to the stern to handle the
dinghy and motor - has anyone done this? Any tips welcomed! Comments?
Am also interested in possibly upgrading the bow roller to accommodate
not only a heavier anchor and chain but also two anchors. Again
interested to hear if anyone has done this or has a comment?

All this for a S 402 .

Sabresailboat G

Hey by the way, this is a completly open forum. No restrictions. Yahoo allows you to download almost anything into this site. Check out all your benefits of being a yahoo member. What I found great is that they give you one full G of e-mail messages. You only have to delete your messages after the 100, 000 message. Wild!

I also noticed that one of the members has already posted some helpful links . Cool! Thanks! Does anyone have anymore? I hope that we can get all of these creators of these sites to become a member of this group. I have e-mailed these guys directly before and they have been very helpful. Also did you see that you can create your own free webpage on Yahoo Geocities. Hopefully if you have a site you will link it to this page.

Please consider completing your profile with at least where you are sailing and in what. Maybe post a picture of your boat in the profile box. This would be great.

The only negative I found was that yahoo doesn't have a required spell-check for those late night posting.
