Re: Node Connections Fail for direct call to HT
If he is using Verizon he likely doesn¡¯t have a public facing ip address and is behind a double nat which will not allow direct incoming connections. Outbound will work fine.? On Sat, Nov 2, 2024 at 20:21 Brad N8PC via <bradn8pc=[email protected]> wrote:

Make sure your default port of 4569 is open on port forwarding in your router to allow inbound connections On Sat, Nov 2, 2024, 7:35 PM Glen Jenkins WB4KTF via <wb4ktf=[email protected]> wrote:

Node Connections Fail for direct call to HT
My friend with a SHARI Allstar can connect to a "group" Node and we can talk through that node, but he cannot connect directly to my SHARI node at home.? I also cannot connect to his SHARI node at his home for a direct one-to-one QSO.
He uses a Verizon WIFI system where he has no control over which ports he can OPEN.
Anything that we can try differently or fix?

Re: SHARI doesn't recieve with ASL3
BINGO!
?
Thanks for posting that little CTCSSFROM tidbit for the SHARI pi-hat. I too was attempting to load an ASL image onto a Pi-4 and was having issues. I knew that it had something to do with the SimpleUSB interface, but wasn't sure where to look.
?
Thanks, very much!

Re: SHARI doesn't recieve with ASL3
It was set to USBINVERT and I changed it to no. Since I turned it on tonight its not even transmitting so I'm not sure whats going on. The serial port is set as default, but I'm not sure if its correct or what the setting would be. This is a PIhat so it sits on the GPIO ports and not in a USB port. I'm able to make changes in the sa818-menu and it writes ok so I assume the port is ok. |
SHARI doesn't recieve with ASL3
I thought I would try ASL 3 and I like the interface. I was able to program the SHARI, but it will only transmit, it doesn't receive. I looked in simpleUSB and there is nothing there when I transmit, its simply not hearing me. It works great with Hamvoip so I'm assuming there is something up with ASL3, has anyone else seen this issue? |

Re: Kits 4 Hams recommended settings for SHARI when using the ASL3 image
this file does not seem to have the needed information.
Since this is all Linux Console based, it's much easier to cut and paste the actual text from the output? of the terminal than it is to make inaccessible screen shots.
Does the actual text for this exist anywhere?
Thanks.

Kits 4 Hams suggested SHARI settings for ASL3 (Version 1.03)?
Our recommended settings for the SA818 are very similar to those suggested for HamVOIP. In ASL3, SA818 programming is initiated by entering sudo sa818-menu at the terminal. The recommended settings, displayed by this menu, are as shown below. Of course RF frequency, CTCSS, squelch and Tail Tone are user choice.? ? A screenshot of a computerDescription automatically generated Note that the serial port shown is for a SHARI PiHat or PiZero. Serial port /dev/ttyUSB0 is used for a SHARI PiXX (i.e. Pi3U, Pi3V, Pi4U, Pi4V).? Also, for a Pi5, the file config.txt located in /boot//firmware must be modified by deleting dtoverlay=disable-bt and adding dtparm=uart0 (located at the end of the file)? The recommended simpleusb settings that differ from the default ASL3 default settings are as shown below. Of course the rxmixer (rxmixerset) and txmixer (txmixaset) settings are dependent on the radio used to access the node.? ? A screenshot of a computer programDescription automatically generated ? ? The Interface Tune CLI presentation of the simpleusb settings is:? ? A screenshot of a computerDescription automatically generated ? Note that the Interface CLI menu is reached by invoking sudo asl-menu at the terminal.? ?

Re: Raspberry pi 5 with shari hat
#Allstar_Setup
#PiHat
#SA818-prog
There are two documents in our "How To" folder in the files section of this group.
?
One explains how to activate the COS LED.? The other address how to fix the SA818 programming with ASL3 and the Pi5.? Also, with version 13, I found that only the connection issue was a problem as I no longer get the "ERROR" message.
