Hi Simon,
Can you connect to the pi with keyboard and monitor?
Alternatively if you have an old router you could plug it into, you could
configure it over a LAN without intenet access, just using SSH
locally.
Once you have access to the Hamvoip Menu it should be straightforward to
look at the wifi settings.
With patience you will get there and learn a lot in the process - its a
great little node.

If you are having issue with wifi maybe the PI itself has a issue. Maybe swap the PI or image a new SD card and start over. We have built many PI based devices and sometimes its just the PI.

If I recall, /etc/resolv.conf is set to 127.0.0.1 by design,
something to do with the HamVoIP dns-based node look-up system.
There is a local resolver installed. This having been said, I
changed /etc/resolv.conf to 1.1.1.1 on one of my HamVoIP nodes
with no immediate ill effects. This may have broken the HamVoIP
custom DNS stuff, but everything seems to work OK anyway. Maybe
this just means that the fallback when Allstar's status servers
are broken will no longer work.
I had some reason for doing this, but now can't recall what it
was. Maybe the Allstar status servers were having a bad day on
December 27, 2019, the day I apparently made that change.
So, perhaps the local resolver doesn't work due to a router
configuration, or something.

wireless may not work, but if you selected DHCP for both
then you should be able to switch back and forth. If at

and networking but this is my first foray into Linux.?
I don¡¯t think it¡¯s a port forwarding issue as I¡¯d have
the same problem on the wired connection too.? This is
what I was seeing as far as a wireless connection (I¡¯m
using a Raspberry Pi 3B+)
I don¡¯t know how to do a ping on Linux to try to
narrow the issue down as to why it will connect to the
internet, but not the Allstar server, on wireless.?

now. I've finally got Allstar, Echolink and the
COS LED working.? My next project is to get it
working wirelessly. From what I've been reading it
will require the use of the GET command to install
the needed files.? However I still haven't figured
out how to drop down to a prompt where the GET
command works. The problem with the clock was
Shari was connected to the internet wirelessly but
Asterisk wasn't recognizing the wireless
connection.? Evidently The wireless connection has
to be done a different way than simply setting it
up through the menu.

The reason it may not connect is because the IP addresses for your wireless and wired connections are different. Remember, Allstar connects to you as well as you connecting to it. Whether that happens by simply trying to connect from your end, I don't know. You can always verify whether you're connected by turning on your Pi, then logging into your allstarlink.org account and seeing if your sev\server and node are active.

If its a iPhone then search this group for other iPhone issues. The newer IOS only has a two out of ten successful connection after reboot. The other thread gives clues on how to increase the odds. The biggest issue is the screen where you turn the personal hotspot on and off make sure you stay on that screen while connecting.

SHARI Disappeared off WiFi network
I went to a friend's place as I only? have a mobile phone for Internet and used his router to set up my new SHARI and got it all working perfectly.? Then I set it up using my phone's WiFi hotspot and brought it home working fine.? Now? the next day it has dropped the connection and I have tried to restart it using *B6 with no success it will not recconnect via the WiFi.
Does anyone have any suggestions, I cannot keep going back to my friend's house to use his router to reconfigure the SHARI.

You enter a different code for CDCSS than you do for CTCSS when you program SHARI. Allstar obtains the correct time from the internet so the only reason I know that the clock could be wrong is if you are not connected to the internet.? Are you using a wired connection? To get to the command line in Linux to edit files you select item 9 in the Admin Menu List.? Then you would use nano to edit the files.? But an easier way is to use MobaXterm or WinSCP . With regard to decoding DTMF, did you set up your RX audio level using item 2 in in simpleUSB-tune-menu (Item 11 on the Admin menu).? Usually you can vary the setting a little until DTMF decode correctly.?Here is a Youtube video about setting levels so DTMF works (?If that doesn't work, there is also a procedure in the Files folder of this group ( Setting the RX Level in HamVOIP Allstar.pdf?)?that tells you how to disable DTMF tone muting so you can see the DTMF levels when using item 2 of the simpleUSB-tune-menu.

Two Days In And Almost Ready To Sell It
How do I get to a prompt to edit files? I have to figure out how to get the tones to decode and how to set the clock somehow. It won't decode DTMF 3 from any of my radios so I haven't been able to test it as far as connecting to another node. Then it thinks some random time is the top of the hour. I've got everything set up according the instructions, in the files section, but it's far from working correctly. I'm beginning to think this thing is going to end up on the QRZ classifieds. From what I'm seeing so far Hamvoip assumes that if you want to set up an All-Star node then you must have already earned a college degree in Linux. My MMDVM runs on Linux too but the person who wrote Pi-Star at least made it to where all you have to is fill in the correct information on the correct line. It worked right out of the box. Absolutely no previous Linux experience required. (I tested my DTMF keypad, on one of our local repeaters, and it decoded all of them on both radios, so the problem isn't on my end)

I agree that the SHARI setup procedure should not say " 16 GB required" and will change that.? I found a recent recommendation dated March 28, 2020 ?by Doug, WA3DSP for SD cards? in the HamVOIP archives (see below).? I am not an expert but I believe the 16 GB size recommendation is based on the sweet spot for price.? Smaller cards and larger cards appear to cost more.??

It is important to do Hamvoip updates in a timely manner and not wait for
years to do it when the update involves a great deal of code to be
downloaded and installed. 99.99% of updates perform flawlessly. When doing
an update you want to make sure you have no interruptions of power or
Internet. If either are unreliable you should wait until they are not. You
should also never stop an update midstream, wait until it is done.
In general SD cards are very reliable as long as you buy and use quality
cards. We recommend using SanDisk cards, generally 16G although in the
future only 32G or larger may be available. Current recommended product -
Currently $5.99 or less in quantity.
Using Hamvoip code on the Pi very little if anything is actually written to
the card in normal operation. Logs and frequently written data are all
stored in RAM on the Pi. If you do things beyond the normal code that write
to the card a large amount of time then there will be a life but that life
is considerably long. I have cards that go back many years of life. That
being said cards are cheap and swapping out old ones is probably a good
idea at some point. Just remember, don't be cheap, throw out the old card
or use it for something that is non critical!
Several things can cause a card to be corrupted. The worse thing you can do
is turn off the power without properly shutting down. This generally does
not cause a problem but that one time could be disastrous. Putting your Pi
on a UPS is a good idea. Also battery backed up auto shutdown boards are
available to take care of this.
Another thing that can cause havoc is poor power to the Pi. Buy a good
power source not the cheapest one you can find. Poor power is the first
thing you should consider when you have an erratic Pi.
To put this in perspective there are many thousands of Pi nodes out there
and a very very small percentage have or will have problems. The SW and HW
is very reliable. When you hear one person having problems here remember it
is a small fraction of a percent of the total users.
