defroster connection on S2

Edited

Hi,
?
On my S2, there are 2 metal pieces normally attached to rear screen where the defroster "wires/paint" are.? ?Mine are not attached to the car. ?Anyone have clue on how to attach them?? Perhaps a glue that passes electricity?

Re: Fuel tank connections

Yes it supposed to be a hard line. 5/16 it probably was plugged and at some point was removed. Then a rubber one was used. Please do not use a rubber hose as a bridge line from tank to tank. It gets hot under the engine. If you ever have a leak. The exhaust header near. The car will go up in flames. You can buy flexible aluminum tubing. Also if you are replacing the fuel pump. Do yourself a favor. Best bang for the buck and awesome fuel pump. Specifically for Dellortos, Weber's and Stromberg. The CARTER P4070 it's a low pressure. High volume pump.?

S1/S2 ABS bumper for sale

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I have an ABS bumper skin produced by Sports Car World in Dallas, TX probably 25-30 years ago. I fiberglassed the inside, added mounting pieces, then filled it with expanding foam (probably Great Stuff). The top surface has a bit of a warp to it, but it's not too bad. Always meant to take it off and paint it a matte black, maybe use a filler primer and make it smooth instead of the pebble texture of the ABS.

?

It probably looks better than your current original bumper.

?

Shipping is a bit expensive, from Orlando FL 32820. Expect $100-$175 in the CONUS. The box will be about 8 lb, 55"x6"x9". Final shipping price TDB after I box it.

I'd suggest placing a scissor jack under the lower surface of the open door before loosening anything, not the edge but the largely horizontal surface and with a block of wood and padding for protection. Adjust the jack to apply a judicious measure of supporting force then ease the fasteners looser just enough so it's possible to shift the door. Approach that with patience, it's quicker and safer than just loosening it all off fully and juggling the door. As remarked below the trimmed door is quite heavy, therefore a handful to manipulate.

Picking nits, but it's...
Weber DCOE, and
Dellorto DHLA.

In my humble opinion, Dellortos beat Webers hands down.

Dellorto's are an amazing Carborator. To say Weber's are NOT as good, is false in my experience. The Weber's have many more parts that can fail and much more difficult to tune. But if you know , how to tune them, They are AMAZING. The sound is like nothing else. But YES they are NOT an, INSTALL and IGNORE.?
Type? Carborators.

Check the archives. There was lots of discussion on carbs, including from Tim the Enchanter.

Hey team - I have an S1 - 1976-77 with original ZS carbs that I would like to get working on - def want to replace carbs and intake in favor of weber type dcoe or similar- do we have a source for such an animal?? I hate ZS - had them on a triumph TR7 years ago and hated them then - 40 years later I still hate them!

I'm east coast US near DC

Eric

I drive my S2 JPS occasionally in the fall, winter, and spring. A/C isn¡¯t working right now, and it¡¯s usually too hot out, and the sun is brutal on a black fiberglass car, in the summer. I¡¯m going to a car show on 13 April, and a bit worried about having it in the sun for several hours. So, I¡¯m the opposite of all you people up north, who put your cars away for the winter.

Re: My 1977 LOTUS ESPRIT S1

The scissor jack would be the wise choice - it's firm and incrementally adjustable. One doesn't want the door flopping around with risk of scratched paint.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I haven¡¯t tried this, but I was thinking of suspending the door from the ceiling with a strap that would give it the height support it needs, but still allow it to swing sort of freely.?
