B&P
Penczak, Joe x23367
That's where one person dons spiked heels and the other shouts, "Whip it!
Whip it good!" ...oops sorry, that's S&M... That's where one person holds out his hand which has some warm, gooey mess on it and says, "Melts in your mouth, not in your hands." ....oops sorry, that's S&M, too, oops again, I mean M&M Reminds me of the joke - The masochist said to the sadist, "Hit me! Hit me!" And the sadist said (Best intoned in a slow, low, cruel voice), "No." In the days I used to trade or branch, I never really minded B(lanks) & P(ostage), because I sstarted with no burner and no trade list, and I figured it was a good way to give back what was so freely given. But after awhile, it would sometimes be frustrating if a B&P'er forgot proper postage (and what, I'm like gonna ask them to send another 17 cent stamp?), or sent crap blanks (I used to make all the copies up front, then use the blanks to replenish). What I had success with, and what I wish would become more of the norm, was having the B&P'er send two cd's from their collection that I didn't have, which I copied for myself and sent back to them with the 2 cd's from the tree or the trade. No P necessary, no B necessary, I just re-use the envelope they used to send their discs to me, putting 4 discs back where two began. Win-win. ...the fox goes looking for a friend |
aotw - re-listened to Cryin Eyes
After reading Rich's comments about the Life album, I re-listened to
the Life album. I don't remember the lyrics from the song Cryin Eyes that he mentioned ("Your life's like riding on a fast train. It's easy to see far away. But right up close it's just a blurry haze, flying by from day to dayyyyaaaay.") and those lyrics are particularly impressive. The song Cryin Eyes is good, but it seems like that song gets cut off too soon on the album. I wanted it to go on for longer. Also, I love the song When Your Lonely Heart Breaks. It's really a beautiful song. I love the backing vocals (I assume it's Billy). I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the verge of tears when he was singing that. The production on the song We Never Danced kind of reminds me of Laurie Anderson's song O Superman, the way they have that repetitive sound affect in the background. Also, it reminds me of the song Someday from the Freedom album. It has that same kind of keyboard sound to it. Mideast Vacation has very good production. It's very sophisticated, but not overdone. FW: Differently

"I was a little disappointed in the song. I'll be patient and give it a few more listens but I thought the similarities were definitely there." I've been listening to AYP quite a bit this week... dont ask me where I got an advance copy, OK? I have broken it up into two categories: songs from the Euro tour and "new" songs. Differently is at the moment my favorite of the "new" songs (although at first it was definitely Mr. Dissapointment cause of the whole "how ya doin?" thing and the cool-Neil spoken-word/rap effect). I have been grooving to the punchy, rhythmic sound of it, and the simple lyrics. I have to say, I didnt connect it to Berlin so much, but it makes me think of Tom Petty. Is there a TP song that sounds similar? I cant think of a particular one... PS, A big thanks to Crazy Moon for putting me up at his home in the Mojave Desert during my rusted road trip last month. His 'guest room' has some wonderful Neil artifacts... had a hard time falling asleep cause I was so excited just to be there. PPS Another thanks to the rusties of the Pacific Northwest, who 'carried on' a fine fest in spite of the cancelled Tacoma show. I planned the route of my 4 week trip around being back in time for the concert... I didn't have to shake the hand of Mr. Dissapointment on the 15th cause it was still a great time, a 'victory for the heart' to be sure. PPPS I have also been enjoying the version of Dont Say You Love Me on AYP. For some strange reason, that song always makes me think of creamy, delicious Cadbury milk chocolate... Jules, it may be time to make another trade! =) Yours in rust, HarryO |

Anybody know about this folkish trio? I heard a tune, 18 dogs, on the radio
and I'm damn near willing to track down the CD and plunk down the cash based on this one tune alone but would like some feedback if anyone else is familiar with them. Thanks, Mark Georg Pardon My Heart |

Steve Blank
.......everything is kinda overshadowed by 'Let's Roll'. as an expressionof some weird patriotism.......HUH?!? he goes on explaining that 'Let's Roll' is all about heroism and humanDUH! I *thought* that was rather apparent??? Oh well, maybe it was just me. Steve "Oh Lord...there's so much hate.......in a world where we're...from another place." |

Great link Ed, but Quill.com has HPs for $13/spindle if you buy

$45+ in goods. Basically if you do that you aren't charged shipping. I also saw the Kodak message on Dylantree and saw that s/H is about $5, making it $20/spindle. Still a great price, especially if you don't have a need for 200 blanks. --- Original Message --- Hey Rusted Ones!List... ____________________________________________________________________
