After reading Rich's comments about the Life album, I re-listened to
the Life album. I don't remember the lyrics from the song Cryin Eyes
that he mentioned ("Your life's like riding on a fast train. It's
easy to see far away. But right up close it's just a blurry haze,
flying by from day to dayyyyaaaay.") and those lyrics are
particularly impressive.
The song Cryin Eyes is good, but it seems like that song gets cut off
too soon on the album. I wanted it to go on for longer.
Also, I love the song When Your Lonely Heart Breaks. It's really a
beautiful song. I love the backing vocals (I assume it's Billy). I
wouldn't be surprised if he was on the verge of tears when he was
singing that.
The production on the song We Never Danced kind of reminds me of
Laurie Anderson's song O Superman, the way they have that repetitive
sound affect in the background. Also, it reminds me of the song
Someday from the Freedom album. It has that same kind of keyboard
sound to it.
Mideast Vacation has very good production. It's very sophisticated,
but not overdone.
