She is a proud Canuck and more specifically a proudNewfie. elections? Perhaps it depends if he ever voted in a Canadian election. He may nothave since he moved to the States when he was just a young adult. Even ifyou're a dual citizen I don't believe you can vote in both countries. It's eitherSo he's probably well past the point when he was entitled to apply for U.S.with Canadian mom and take out Canadian citizenship then he would have his U.S.that the same situation but reversed? Both spouses would be taking outabout the 4 lads. Some excellent pictures!!!wait was WELL worth it!!!in denver. if so, i was wondering if there are any good bars near the pepsithe results for the most part, although if you start out with a lousy vinylmix to begin with, then that's basically what you're also going to end up withon the cd-r you transfer it to. One thing that I have been able to do on someto bump the record levels up just a bit on the transfer to cd-r, whichusually seems to slightly improve the sound quality of the original vinylrecording, at least to my ears it does. Thankfully, I've also kept most of my oldvinyl records in near-mint condition over the years, so I get mostly smooth andand it has a nice cold creek running right through it, plus you can't be seenat all from the road which goes right past it. I'm sure that the localKootenai Indians would've used this spot as a camp at the turn of the century.well, I'll handwrite them out for tomorrow ot Saturday a.m. just in case. Oneway or t'other we'll hunt fer the campground and probably find it. Ifsomeone's able, could you email me directions to get from Hwy 101, SF Int'l Airportto Saratoga Springs Campground? Tx. We almost came to blows and he said "If yer gonna hit me,101 from the SF Int'l Airport, maybe email me with directions, I oghtta beable to take care o' drawin' myself a map tomorrah a.m. I often wish I stillwas with my Native girlfriend from Fort St. James, B.C. Peter Gabriel NNC
Bill Hoerner
Well my computer has been down for a week or so, so I don't know what
the recent talks have been, but did anyone go to the Gabriel show in Michigan at The Palace? Blind Boys were great and so was Gabriel, but I was shocked at the crowd. The Palace may have been half filled. I thought it would be close to a sellout. I am wondering what the attendance has been for the rest the tour. Respond off list if you care to. Tom Petty tonight. If anyone is interested I have a wonderful show from 1967 and a couple of
other ones - check my list Barbara in Ottawa To have a look at my List go to <www.barbaratopp.ca> In a message dated 4/6/03 10:55:47 AM Canada Central Standard Time, remember seeing her here in San Antonio in the early 70's with Tom Scott and the LASan Antonio, for me never had a deep musical consciousness...and I always feltwe were a crude bunch, musically speaking, for the finer music scenes, 'youit was an unbelievable concert where one would be able to hear a pindrop...and I am speaking in all seriousness...the savage beast of San Antonio was putat utter ease and release...even the most high strung rowdy hard-coreinto "taming the tiger...nice kitty, kitty" levels of comfort with Joni'sspans" or those who are mentally lazy to study what she feels won't get it...ever since I heard Joni's song sung by Judy Collins back in 1968, I needed tofind out who she was and I was just 11 years old and I found out who Joni wasand I have been a faithful Joni fan ever since then. |
BURNERLESS VCD OFFER[Europe] - Oakland
Hugh Mcghee
Hi,
thanks to Bjarte Heide, I have the Oakland 1999/03/20 VCD on 2 discs. I've seen a few offerings to the list, but none for those burnerless ones. So, here's your chance to grab this VCD for the cost of a couple of discs and a stamp. I'll take at least 5, but whenever I've said this in the past, I've found it pretty difficult to say no. Digsters needn't worry, this offer will be for a while. Take care Hughie |
Re: The Oracle of Bacon links Neil to:
Bob Young says:
Note that when searching Neil, you have to type inHmm, innaresting. Who's that second Neil Young guy? Does anyone knows anything about him? Anyway, He's easily linked to *our* Neil Young: Neil (II) Young was in Island of Dr. Moreau, The (1996) with Ron Perlman(I) Young Fabio Yes I'm Passionate |
Xmas-related songs from rock artists
I'm not refering to covers of the traditional pop songs like 'white
christmas' et al, but original-penned rock songs that make direct or indirect reference to Christmas. Some tunes come to mind: Tom Waits - Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis Joni Mitchell - The River Neil Young - The Star of Bethlehem Toby Keith - Christmas Rock Nerf Herder - I've Got a Boner for Christmas If we get a dozen more of so like these, it could make a very different christmas compilation to give to your friends. Anyone? Fabio Yes I'm Passionate |
Re: Top 1000 Classic Rock Songs

a group of people very small to be of any significance. Any of us could easy compile a list of 100 (1000?) "how could they forget to include (yada yada)" songs (Neil's and many other artists') that didn't make the "top 1000". Anyway, here are the Neil songs included and their position in the "top 1000" chart: 17 The Needle & Damage Done 65 Southern Man 105 Rockin' in the Free World 201 Cinnamon Girl 226 Mansion on The Hill 237 Ohio 281 Old Man 304 Long May You Run 368 Hey Hey 478 Alabama 514 Crime in The City 585 The Loner 597 Walk On 659 Heart of Gold 670 Cortez the Killer 766 Sugar Mountain 871 Downtown 942 Don't Let it Bring You Down 18 in 1000... Then Neil songs correspond to 1.8 % of the best 1000 rock songs ever written? Yeah, right... By the way, where's "Like a Hurricane" and "Cowgirl in the Sand"? And how come the only #1 Neil song ever, HoG, is almost a 100 positions below a very little known song (Walk On) from an album that is not even available? Go figure... Fabio Yes I'm Passionate Here's a link I found for a local radio station. It's not surprising |
The world's top songs - EVER!! (slight nc)
LONDON (Reuters) - The Irish republican rallying cry
"A Nation Once Again" was named on Friday as the world's favorite song ever, after a global poll by the BBC. The ballad performed by the staunchly republican group The Wolfe Tones, was among a minority of Western songs in the list and only narrowly triumphed over Indian patriotic song "Vande Mataram," the BBC said in a statement. (...) The poll of BBC World Service listeners attracted 150,000 votes from 153 countries and revealed the diversity of the world's musical tastes. Among the rest of the top ten was a Bollywood movie song, a love song from Nepal, a Tamil Tiger film song and a pop song from Hollywood singer/actress Cher. "A Nation Once Again" was written by 19th century Anglo-Irish army surgeon Thomas Osbourne Davis to support the fight for an end to British rule. It includes the refrain "And Ireland, long a province, be a nation once again." Many famous names contributed to the voting with Bianca Jagger choosing Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" rather than anything from ex-husband Mick Jagger's band the Rolling Stones. Former Philippines first lady Imelda Marcos chose Handel's Hallelujah chorus while Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey opted for Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife." The BBC said some artists suffered in the voting stakes because so many of their songs were nominated, splitting the vote. The Beatles had 55 songs nominated and Iranian artist Googoosh had 40. Reggae legend Bob Marley had 29 songs nominated, with "No Woman No Cry" topping the list. Europe's favorite song was "Wind of Change" by the Scorpions, a song many associate with the fall of the Berlin Wall. The United States went for "Girl from Ipanema" by Antonio Carlos Jobim while Latin Americans voted for "Solo le pido a Dios" from Argentine singer Leon Geico. Swahili classic "Malaika" was Africa's number one while Australians and New Zealanders voted for both Crowded House's "Don't Dream it's Over" and "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. The final top ten list is: 1. A Nation Once Again -- The Wolfe Tones. 2. Vande Mataram -- various artists. 3. Dil Dil Pakistan -- Vital Signs. 4. Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu -- Ilayaraja. 5. Poovum Nadakkuthu Pinchum Nadakkuthu -- Thirumala Chandran 6. Ana wa Laila -- Kazem El Saher. 7. Reetu Haruma Timi -- Arun Thapa. 8. Believe -- Cher. 9. Chaiyya Chaiyya -- A R Rahman. 10. Bohemian Rhapsody -- Queen. " _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Now for the slight neil content: does anyone know if any NY song made BBC pool's top 100, or top 1000, or...? Fabio Yes I'm Passionate |

AYP Live?
I am listening now to the excelent Eurotour 01 comp, and it strikes me how
much I like the live versions of AYP? songs. I think that AYP? could be a next candidate for the series of 'live versions of studio albums' we've seen here recently. I checked my collection, and, with the Eurotour comp, CSNY 02 comp and Rock am Ring concert, we have all album songs but two performed live. I imagine that a more serious collector probably has versions of those missing songs too. So, anyone's for game? Mike? ;-) Here's what I found, but I'm not sure if those are the best live performances of the songs, so if anyone is willing to do it properly, a more complete research should be needed. You're My Girl (02/17/02 Chicago CSNY) Mr Disappointment (? I don't have it) Differently (05/18/02 Rock am Ring) Quit - Dont say you Love Me (07/10/01 Montreaux Eurotour 01) Let's Roll (05/18/02 Rock am Ring, or CSNY 02) Are you Passionate? (05/18/02 Rock am Ring) Going Home (many performances to choose) When I Hold you in my Arms (07/03/01 Stockholm Eurotour 01) Be with You (? I don't have it) Two Old Friends (02/28/02 Hartford CSNY 02) She's a Healer (05/18/02 Rock am Ring) bonus track: Gateway of Love (06/18/01 Ghent Eurotour 01) Fabio Yes I'm Passionate |
Re: DVD to Audio
I am trying to make a CD out the songs on the DVD The Year of the Horse.Any ideas on the simplest way to do this would be greatly appreciated.I never tried it myself, but I'm told that, to do a cd-copy of the audio from a DVD, the easiest way (if you have the equipment) is, instead of using a computer cd-burner, use a cd-recorder connected to your TV. You should change the cd-recorder recording mode to 'analog' (most cd-recorders have this option), that way there is no restrition to copy the audio from the DVD (it works as you were recording the audio from a regular tv program). Obviously, you should use standard 'analog' connections from your DVD to the tv and from the tv to the cd-recorder, instead of the optical or digital connections. Let the DVD roll, and manually change the track number whenever a song ends. Hope it helps! Fabio Yes I'm Passionate |
Re: mixed marriage
To which I reply: Is anyone married to someone whoAnd to which I ask, has anyone here found his / her beloved one at a Neil Young environment (be it online at NY discussions groups such as Rust and HH, at a Rustfest, BSB or any Neil Young concert / event?) Maybe the time has come for the Rust Crew to promote the "Rusted Hearts" encounters: All single rusties (and those naughty married ones) should send their basic personal info and other relevant information (such as: favorite NY album), and what kind of rustie are they looking for (lurker, digester or realtimer; acoustic rustie, electric rustie or bi-stylistic rustie; Kraft Dinner or Ham Sandwich, etc.), and the Rust Crew could act as the matchmakers!
