cd burning advice

Jim Fong

Always extract to your hard drive. You'll eliminate your buffer underruns.
Your HP8100i can burn past 78 minutes, but you need to install a driver patch
to do it.

I would get the bigger hard drive, you'll enjoy being able to make
copies quickly.

Most of the newer cd writers have software to prevent buffer underruns,
but I can't vouch for them. You need this for the fast burners (24x,
32x, etc).

Re: Coverart Searching finished (Thirteen Moons)

I'm happy. First of all: Thanks to Lou, I received the coverart for this
great "13moons"-Compilation. And second: Its real fun to listen to the
great music just now.
Ergo: Rusties are the most helping people around !!!

AYP received 4 1/2 stars from Ft.Worth Star

Sorry, I couldn't find an online link but the "Friday" guide of the Ft. Worth Star Telegram gave AYP four and one-half stars saying Neil "steps out of character with a romantic album."

I recently traded for a CD-boot copy of the
02/23/83 show. I attended this show way back
when, and although I had a good tape of it
(thanks to Chuck King) I wanted to upgrade
to a CD. Back in the olde tape trading days,
this tape was probably the most requested
of me by traders.

The person I was trading with was
trying to purge his collection of stuff he
no longer listened to, so he sent me the
commercial boot (sorry, but I cannot remember who
it was).

The song titles here are just way-out:

Boot Title: F*!#IN' UP - The Galaxy of Love

Volume 1:

The Time
This is Nowhere
The River
Don't Let It
Soul Woman
Real Cowboys
New Woman
Sunset
Help Me
Dancer
Gold Heart
Don't Be Good
The Game
Way
Power Finger

Volume 2:

The Old
Gold Rush
Transformer
The Blue
Mr. Rock
Like A Rose
Break Your Heart
The Needle
A Problem
Mr. Rock
Silver Mountain
The Sample
Mr. Rock
The Sample

Without looking at the setlist (below),
just try to figure out the real titles.

This does not exactly match the setlist from
02/23/83, but is fairly close.

(From Sugar Mountain: ()

02-23-1983, Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York

Solo

Comes A Time / Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere / Down By The River / Don't
Let It Bring You Down /
Soul Of A Woman / Are There Any More Real Cowboys? / Old Man / California
Sunset /
\Helpless / Dance, Dance, Dance / Heart Of Gold / Don't Be Denied /
Pocahontas /
Sail Away / Powderfinger / Ohio / After The Goldrush / Transformer Man /
My My, Hey Hey / Mr. Soul / Sugar Mountain / Computer Age

Thanks to t-bone I have the above mentioned show on 2 CDRs.
I'd like to offer 5 free copies to European Rusties. Three sets will go to rusties,
who are willing to make a similar offer to the list, and two sets will go to
burnerless rusties. Please inlude your postal address in your answer.

I will also consider trades for shows from the current CSNY tour (except Grand

[snip]...was Neil switching back and forth ala Rick Wakeman or Keith
Emerson?

Rick and Keith (and Patrick Moraz) would be playing both simultaneously --
one with each hand [and perhaps a foot as far as Keith is concerned] ;-)

My 1/2 cent.

From: David Magda <bitethebullet52@...>
Questions about the performance of AMNAM ("A Man Needs A Maid ... did i do
that correctly?) ...

Is that Neil playing both a piano and an organ? Is that the organ that he
still totes around with him that some of you hate while others love? Was

share their memories with me as to the set up of the two keyboards, i.e. was

I had the great fortune of ushering at the Boston Music Hall while at
college in Boston. I still think back on those glorious years ... and, of
all the shows I got to see (we were "off duty" for all intents and purposes
as soon as the lights went out) this magical night is the one (well, maybe
tied with Springsteen's "Born To Run" multiple-night stand) I remember the
most vividly.

Neil was not playing his antique pump organ at this time. He was
alternating, as you suggest, a la Rick Wakeman, between his piano and, if I
remember correctly, a small keyboard that "sounded" like an organ. I just
seem to remember it looking like a black box ... not like a Hammond B-3 or
anything.

NY&CH 11-22-76 Boston Music Hall Early Show Questions

David Magda

Hello All.

What a great show. Thanks so much to you all for all
of this music! When i stop and think of it, it is just
way too cool that we are so blessed, or lucky, to be
able to listen to so much history in what we love.

Questions about the performance of AMNAM ("A Man Needs

to share their memories with me as to the set up of
the two keyboards, i.e. was he switching back and
forth ala Rick Wakeman, or Keith Emerson?

I think the sound is wonderful but my copy has
numerous hiccups, clicks or such. Has anyone cataloged
these so that i could know whether to search for a
cleaner copy or if i have the best available. I'm not
overly persnickety (sp) but i love the show and would
like as good a recording as possible if a better one
exists.

Thanks so much.

Peace, david ... hiding behind hay bales.

Seeking cd burning advice

Randall

Question for those who burn tons of cds........I have gotten a lot of buffer underun errors when trying to go disc to disc, so I finally gave up on using my old crappy 40x cd rom drive, and burn shows to my hard drive, THEN to cdr. I have been considering one of two options here. Since I only have a 10gb hd at this point, and can only store about 3 shows at a time on it, I am considering upgrading to a 40gb drive and storing shows I offer for trades there. My other option is to get a new cd rom drive, or even install a second burner to use as a cd rom drive. In one way, that would seem ideal, since the HP 8100 I have now does not burn past 78 minutes, and I am screwed if I try to copy a true 80 minute disc. I just wanted to throw it out to the gallery to get opinions before I go invest in either.
My current cd rom drive only extracts audio at 458kb/sec, and as I say I have gotten more buffer errors using it than going right to the hard drive with the show. My currenbt hard drive extracts data at 3072k/sec, according to the test perfomred by Adaptec Easy Cd creator on it,.
All replies and advice can be sent to skeeterg@...
THANKS!!!!!!
Randall
