Guess this means that Tx rusties from other parts of the state will all be travelling in to town. It's never too early to start planning the fest. bh aka brown-skinned indian ~~~the music matters~~~ >>>--- ---> |

Re: Definitions please...
Paul Tomita
David asked: "I just can't figure out exactly what are "realtimers" and
"digesters"." Since I am a digester I am late to reply. Realtimers are those brash sorts that punch out responses at a moments notice without a second thought. All flame wars start with these impetuous responders. Digesters are thoughtful blokes who take their time, digest the posts they receive before crafting considerate, well informed, and generous replies.... Realtimers are here and now types Digesters are gaze at their navel types Realtimers are on time Digesters are late because they had to go to the toilet again Realtimers are wham bam thank you mam Digesters are slow but they're good Realtimers mind is moving so fast Digesters conversation is slow Realtimers are faster but always behind Digesters are slower but always ahead or not. Looking forward... Paul |
Bad News for CT Neil Fans
Mark Fochesato
I heard Clear Channel Promoter Jim Koplik on his weekly radio call-in
show on WPLR(New Haven) last night. Someone asked if Neil would play Connecticut this summer and his answer was a flat out "NO", because CSNY just played Hartford, they don't want Neil to over play this small market. Damn! Looks like I'll have to go to Jones Beach or Tweeter Ctr, MA. to see Neil this year!! |

and later neil said, and this a translation, - come on, how stupid can youwhen i first heard the song his voice and the lyrics had me convinced he was acting. he was playing the let's roll guy. certainly didn't think neil felt that way, but that it was supposed to be part of the feeling of being there. a go for broke, psyched up kind of thing. mela |
AOTW questions
OK folks, so I've been spinning Life all week, like a
good Rustie (and have actually grown to enjoy it immensly with each listen, it's creeping into at least a top ten for me) and I have a couple of questions. I know that MV is likely a detached narrator (ie not Neil) but I still can't get past one lyric, "But the thought never struck me, I'd be black and white for life" it jumps out at me each time, any thoughts on what the "black and white" refers to (am I setting myself up for a duh-type answer?). Also a technical question. I'm still new to the harmonica, but loving every minute of it. Does anyone know the key of the harp used on Long Walk Home? Is it "C"? Thanks for humouring my questions folks! Mike Gill ______________________________________________________________________ File your taxes online! |

Thanks, Paula not Klaus, sorry about dropping the wrong name. The
extra quote you added is interesting. It certainly helps me see Neil's point. I guess this is like Rockin In The Free World. People glom on to that phrase and sing along and cheer, but the song itself does not celebrate anything we should cheer about. Listening to the MP3 version with CSNY of Lets Roll you hear the guy in the beginning, before the cel phone starts to ring "dude this is the song I've been waiting for" and and the end he or someone else near the taper yells out God Bless America. I would say the cynicism really escaped that guy. Rick 'proto-rustie' --- In rust@y..., shofheinz@a... wrote: it was printed in english. "oh, that. there is a certain amount ofcynicism in this song that seems to escape people."can you be, taking 'going after satan on the wings of dove' literally?! ifeel like this is the point they tried to bring out in this RS issue:cynicism vs patriotism. personally i feel the cynicism in this song. back in mymind i see neil's heartbreakin' rendition of 'imagine' and doing 'longroad' with eddie vedder. so there is no way i can see neil rolling with mr.bush. but this is just me. |
Re: Austin RustFest (NNC)
David Lybrand
... once a year, millions of crickets invade austin. walk along theDoesn't sound as bad as the two (mid Spring, early Fall) love-bug invasions that hit Florida. They last two to three weeks, and if you drive down the highway more than ten minutes you'll be forced to soon afterward put some effort into washing/scraping the gooey mess off your windshield and car body. If you don't, they leave permanent visible blotches in your paint job. Somehow it never fails that after not hitting the road for months, I'll end up having to make a trip up the coast right in the middle of love-bug season. Back just after Free Bird was born we planned a trek to loop around Florida visiting all the "ralatives" to show her off. Involved a week of driving with about 20 different stops. Yep, it was the Fall love-bug season. :-( By the end of that week I was so sick of smelling "hot love-bug & soapy water soup" that I stayed home for months... :-) RE*AC*TOR |

Acid Mothers Temple in NYC 3/23/02 & Mojo question
B A
I'm going to see Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting
Paraiso U.F.O. for the 1st time tomorrow night at the Knitting Factory in NYC. The show is on the "ShortList" in the current Village Voice. Here's what Chuck Eddy has to say about them: Today's Japanese acid-rock revival is a droning ritual of offhand eclecticism and eternal repetition a la Germany 30 years ago; while guitar genius Kawabata Makoto's traveling Nagoya commune might not match the pastoral beauty of Ghost or Angel'in Heavy Syrup, they're still the heavy legends of the bunch, and way more pastorally beautiful than their inspirations Blue Cheer or the Mothers of Invention ever were. If you'd had a chance to see Amon Duul in 1970, you would've gone, right? There was a review of an AMT gig in the UK about 2 or 3 issues back in Mojo in which Kawabata was favorably compared to Hendrix. Needless to say, I'm very excited about this show, which cost me a grand total of $11 including service charge. Is anyone else going? Bill Tired Eyes PS I just bought Mojo 100 last night, which has at least 3 Neil references. Am I the only one, or are other USA rusties not able to buy this as early each month as they used to? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
