John, I looked in the /dev directory and do not have a ttyO1. Below are the contents of the /dev directory. root@beaglebone:/etc/ax25# ls /dev/tty*

? ? Hi all, I just got my TNC-Black and am setting it up and can not get the ax25 working.When I run kissattach command i get this error "tty_speed: tcgetattr: Input/output error" ? I have my TNC set for UART1 which should be /dev/ttyS0. The command I am using is: ? root# /usr/local/sbin/kissattach /dev/ttyS0 0 ? Also I the "pitnc_setparams" doesn't work either.

?Stan, there is a program called 'xming X Server for Windows' that will allow you accomplish what John mentioned. You can use it with putty to ssh in and grab a x11 session. Here is a link to a pdf that will help you if you choose this route. As far as your initial question there is some documentation here: At the bottom of the link you can select the operating system you are trying to connect from and it will go into further detail. HELP!!!!! ax25 setup issues
Hi all, I just got my TNC-Black and am setting it up and can not get the ax25 working.When I run kissattach command i get this error "tty_speed: tcgetattr: Input/output error" I have my TNC set for UART1 which should be /dev/ttyS0. If you are using linux, you can use ssh -X (pi hostname or IP address ) ?and run the pi's X-Windows session on your linux PC. The X-Windows runs better on a PC than it does on the pi. ?

Thank you for your very prompt response Alan. You have given me something to work on. I will have to find the previous posts that you referred to and emulate?a setup with my RPi B+ before passing the info over to my granddaughter.It sounds?like VNC setup is a well trodden path although it doesn't seem to be in the files. 73 Stan GW3SRM . |

To use the desktop I used xdrp on the Pi?and
remote desktop connection from windows pc (see previous posts to the
group)
For the commane line interface / terminal, I used
SSH with PuTTY on the PC
Both work fine here with W7 but not sure about

VNC connection problem
Greetings everyone, I am a new member.
?
I have a problem successfully connecting a VNC (tightvncserver) between a laptop computer and a RPi B.
?
The RPi B and the laptop are my 11 yr old granddaughter's who lives in Cyprus.
?
I have just bought her the B and the problem is that she does not have easy access to a hdmi tv and would prefer to use her laptop with the RPi.
?
We can readily identify the IP addresses but the laptop and RPi don't want to talk to each other. Obviously I must be doing something wrong.
?
Is there surefire way of doing it?
?
I now have a RPi B+ myself and hope to utilise it in amateur related activities.
?

Probably not, the frequency shifts are so small (around 1.5 Hz) that it's very difficult to detect them by ear. I use the JamesP6000 verision exclusively due to the brilliant self-calibration feature he created. It has eliminated the #1 source of frustration from my earlier attempts and I recommend it, otherwise you'll have to come up with the required frequency correction factor using one of the other methods described. WSPR requires a high degree of frequency accuracy and real time synchronization, and this version can do both automatically from the command line. I also like the "-o" or Offset feature, which changes your transmit frequency slightly to increase the odds of being heard. It's amazing to know that an I/O pin on a computer can generate a signal that can be heard all around the world. Keep trying and I'll look for your call on the WSPR map soon! 73, Bob W9RAN |

I just installed WSPRRY on a model B. I connected it through a commercially-made 20m band pass filter to a large loop antenna. I have not seen any reception reports even after transmitting for several hours on 14097000. I decided to monitor it on my HF receiver, and can clearly hear when the transmission start and stop. I expected to hear some varying tone, perhaps like those I hear when I operate WSJT. What my untrained ear hears sounds more like a constant carrier, with the tone not seeming to change. Does this mean something is wrong? I tried 2 different packages. The screen displays are different, but the results seem to be the same. " and "git clone Suggestions appreciated. 73 de Jim, KD1YV |
