As far as the?<...>0/zzzzzzzz goes, I checked with the other station and it wasn't transmitting my call, just "<...>"? I went into settings and deleted my call and re-typed it. I also noticed that the grid locator now had "EL8" instead of EL87. Why it dropped the digit, I'll never know.
Anyway, after fixing those things, I found that it was transmitting just fine and immediately made a contact with a station in Wyoming, so all is well.
Why it gliched, it is up to the software gods.
As for the window being too large, I don't have a solution for that.
