Re: Windlass and rode
*REMEMBER SAFETY* : any time you are working with the chain, *never get your fingers between the chain and anything* ! It will take your fingers off in a heart beat! Let your windlass do the work!

Re: Windlass and rode
If it is a Gypsy built for both rode and chain, there will be a gripping surface on the Gypsy for the rode. Try letting the chain out and slide the rode into the groove, the windlass should bring the
Re: Windlass and rode

Re: Windlass and rode
Hi Daryl, I wrote that the 31 IS a Crealock design not a Crealock model. The Crealock models are canoe sterns. I knew Bill and he was a great guy and very proud of his designs. The 40, though a canoe

Re: Windlass and rode
Stu, Is your gypsy a chain / rode gypsy? And do you have the rope spliced directly to the chain, if so your windlass should route it directly into the anchor locker. Daryl

Re: Windlass and rode
Sorry but (I believe ) you are mistaken, It is a Crealock design, granted many of his designs had canoe sterns, but the PSC 31 and the PSC Dana are both his designs. Daryl

Re: Windlass and rode
Hi Stu, Buy more chain. I carry 160ft of 5/16 plus 30ft of line at the end on my 31. I anchor 50-100 days per year and rarely use all the chain except in P-town this summer. For the most part, the

Re: Windlass and rode
Stu, I use the rule of thumb ¡°50 ft plus double the depth¡±. (Usually). 200 ft of chain is heavy and expensive. I compromised and installed 120 ft of chain and 50 ft of rode. Along with a

Windlass and rode
¡°My¡± PSC 31 has 50¡¯ of chain and 150¡¯ of rode. ?I was wondering how best to deal with the rode in order for it to go down the hawse pipe in preparation for the gypsy to take up the chain. ?I

The number on the mainsail is 114, probably the hull number.

Re: Location of Hull #
Hi Stu, If it¡¯s like mine¡ The hull number can be found in two places. 1) on the floor lip of the Diesel engine compartment and 2) on the stern¡outboard starboard. Regards, Steve. PS31
