Most of my current subjects as I explore this are outside in full sun. A ring flash down the road for sure. The focus rail or slider I can see as a needed item as adjusting/moving the tripod an inch

Based on Scott Ditzel’s comment in another thread, I suspect that both of us need to invest in a ring flash, and that would likely give better results than a focusing rail. I’m definitely curious
