Re: A small selection of photo's
I need to clean up my Flickr account and make it not as chaotic. I haven¡¯t added anything to it in years. Jon On Mon, Apr 3, 2023 at 14:46 RobO <R_Offer@...> wrote:

Re: Tripods and/or attachments for Macro work
Most of my current subjects as I explore this are outside in full sun. A ring flash down the road for sure. The focus rail or slider I can see as a needed item as adjusting/moving the tripod an inch or less to get the ability to focus can be a challenge. Re: Tripods and/or attachments for Macro work
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBased on Scott Ditzel¡¯s comment in another thread, I suspect that both of us need to invest in a ring flash, and that would likely give better results than a focusing rail. ?I¡¯m definitely curious about using a ring flash with my ¡°new¡± 105mm f/2.8G VR Macro.I¡¯m not sure what modern books might give the information, but books like the old ¡°Nikon F Nikkormat Handbook of Photography¡±, give a lot of info and tables for tubes, and other devices for Macro. ?I believe this includes info on the DOF. ?With the transition to digital, I¡¯ve not really seen that sort of info published anywhere, or perhaps I¡¯m not looking in the right locations. Re: Lightroom
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Jon ? The process you describe is how RAW or in the case of Nikon NEF files work.? Very basically, the RAW file is just data with no adjustments whatsoever ¨C it¡¯s data straight off the camera sensor. ? You are correct, any adjustments made to the RAW file are saved in a separate, small file which is referenced when you open the file again.? Naturally you can save different versions and use a different name as with other formats. ? RAW files are lossless unlike some other formats in common usage. ? I hope that helps ? Bob ? PS ¨C I shoot NEF and jpg at the same time so that I have something quickly available without having to spend time processing the image in the RAW [NEF] file.. ? ? ? ? From: Jon

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Roy ? Many thanks for your reply and comments about Flickr.? It certainly sounds good.? I¡¯ll have a look into setting up an account, it may take a couple of days ~ I have to get a stack of outdoor jobs done whilst the weather is fine. ? I guess the account will be a 5min job, the photos may take a while longer ~ here in the countryside, we¡¯re lucky to squeeze 2Mbps from our internet download, the upload is around 0.4Mbps ? Re: A small selection of photo's
Hello Bob
It is free up to 1000 images, you can publish straight from Lightroom which I think tells others what camera you were using and the exif data, quite good if you need help with an image, not that I think you need a lot of help and seems quite quick at getting images in from Lightroom, that said I have only been using it for a week, I will however pay the upgrade price when the time comes. -- Kind Regards Roy |
