Cindi Gibson
Hi All!
I know this is slighly off topic. I came across a picture and I think it might have a relative on it that i can search down for my family history in Poland and Siberia. Could someone translate for me? The photo reads W mieszkaniu Banasiow podczas zabowy moich(or k) urodziu. Jestem ja i Panstwo Kaczmarczyk ( which i know is the last name Kaczmarczyk) Thank you in advance. Thanks John
I thought that the pages might be getting a bit political but after having a few mates look at them they confirmed what I thought the pages are truthful and to the point and shouldn't change Paul At 23:09 01/11/2002 +0000, you wrote: Paul

Hi Gary,
Our fathers shared similar routes in WWII. My father's diary lists Predapio Alta, Predapio Nuovo, and other places in Italy, and I was able to trace his army route in Italy. It is quite likely that you will find names, locations, battles, and general experiences in his diary that apply to your father, not just in Italy, but Poland, the USSR and Middle East. I hope "A Katyn & World War Two Diary" will be of help to you: Indeed many Poles had to agree to work for two years on arrival in Canada--often in conditions that could only be described as forced labour. As well they had to agree, upon threat of deportation, not to engage in "propaganda" (that is talking about Katyn, Soviet crimes etc). If you need any translations please contact me. Just a few words about the above:
I recently wrote to Alexander Gur'yanov asking for information in their database "Polish citizens deported to Arkhangelsk region (1940-1941). Aklexander wrote back within 2 days with exactly the information we wanted. He was very helpful, written in good English, attached a letter in Polish which he did offer to translate if neccessary, and gave instructions on where to write to get copy of the documents we wanted. It felt very strange seeing my mother's family names etc on a Russian document and my mother was very moved by the reply. (She is trying to get a copy of her sister's death certificate, she died at the age of 14 on Christmas Eve 1940 in Kotlas.) "Alexander Gur'yanov" <gurpolcom@...> Many thanks to Alexander, your assistance is much appreciated. Elizabeth Olsson |

You have to expect to get this hate mail from people whose conscience troubles them, and do not want to be reminded of their past life, but we know the truth, and I support you whole heartledly for letting it be known to the outside world, what really happened when this lot took over the world for a short time, and the madness and greed ensued. New releases on DVD
John Nieurzyla
I have just been informed of imminent release of the DVD in the USA, the
documentary "The Uprising" which I believe was discussed a couple of months ago on the list, about the Warsaw uprising which was broadcast on American television only. Also being released is the film "Come and See" this film made in b/w was filmed in Belarus, and is the story of the destruction of a village and of the atrocities carried out therein during WW2. This was made in similar to Schindlers List. I have ordered my copies. John Nieurzyla Uk |
Off the Wall.......opinion welcome
This is a bit of the wall and strays from the subject but I thought that
I'd ask others of their opinions on this subject
I was contacted by a Ukrainian descent Canadian in regards to my Kresy pages, he informed me that all the information on them was a pack of lies and fabrications also he's email leant heavily on the subject of my family "not being taken care of" in the times of WWII. Please read the Food for Thought section and kindly off the list inform me if my points are valid if you feel that the list should know your comments then I have no objections. Paul

I can shine some light on a few medals and the area 1939/45 Star IT is the medal awarded to all soldiers serving within the British Armed forces on the Italian Campaign. The place of abode looks like Karlowicze powiat(district) Rogatyn, Polesie, Poland I'll see what I can find out about the remainder Paul At 03:16 01/11/2002 -0800, you wrote: Hello People:

Re: Question from Linder Stachnik
Linder
If he was in the Armed Forces than the possibility of being captured and sent to a PoW camp or a forced labour camp are very high a lot of prisoners ended up in them, later to be disposed of in the officer corps class. As to the question of being grabbed from home or a field it could have been the case that the NKVD came to the house looking for him and if he was working in the fields he could have been taken from there after not being found in his residence. It's possible that the info was extracted from the remainder of the inhabitants. He also could have been part of 'Sokoly' to which my grandfather belonged, it also depends on his age as most young men were inducted into the army between the ages of 20-22. 开云体育Hello People:
??? I've been a
member of this group for a few months and I never had a chance to post a
message, due to Christmas and moving, getting hooked up to the internet again,
my brand new computer was laid to rest, the hard drive died, and the list goes
on.
??? First I
just like to thank the people who thought up the idea of this web site, my
father who passed away this year would have been very proud that we think enough
of our fore fathers, that we do not let their memories
die.
??? When my
father passed away he left his medals and some personal papers to me, I was
fortunate enough that a lot of his original papers are intacted. I was hoping
that someone out there could help me with some of the information on my fathers'
Certificate of Demobilization, it is hard to understand the writing, it was
issued in "Predappio Italy on Oct. 15, 1946." I cannot find that name on the
map.??I have only four of his medals, on the same certificate on part
14 under decorations they are listed as follows,"Br.K.Z.zM., K.M.C.,
G.W.1939/45., G.IT., B.C.M.S., C.MONTE CAS., The 1939/45 STAR, IT STAR." In part
18 and 19 it states that he was demobilized from the Polish Forces abroad on
Nov. 13 1946 and transfered to Service Territorial. I'm getting a little ahead
of myself, the questions I was asking, what are the medals that are listed and
what was "Service Territorial"? And finally my dads' place of birth is listed as
"Karlowicze pawii Rohiczyn waj: Polesie Polska" and to top it off I cannot find
that on the map.
??? Looking
back and trying to imagin what my father went through by being deported to
Siberia and fighting with the British, one would think that coming to Canada
would be his first real taste of living in a free country, I thought so, until I
ran across a wallet size docuement with my dads name on it ,??it reads
"Department of Labour Canada. This is to certify that Polish Veteran?Leon
Bancarz has discharged the undertaking made with the Government of Canada to
remain in specified employment for a fixed period of time upon admission to
Canada. Dated Aug.22/49. Its signed by the minister of Labour and the Deputy
Minister, I remember that my dad told me one time that he had to work on a farm
in Quebec for two years in order to stay in Canada, my mother had to work on a
farm also she also had no choice, but in her case she was deported to Germany,
from Poland. So if anyone out there can help me? Thank
you.?
