Gary
I can shine some light on a few medals and the area
1939/45 Star IT is the medal awarded to all soldiers serving within the
British Armed forces on the Italian Campaign.
The place of abode looks like Karlowicze powiat(district) Rogatyn,
Polesie, Poland
I'll see what I can find out about the remainder

Hello
People:
???
I've been a member of this group for a few
months and I never had a chance to post a message, due to Christmas and
moving, getting hooked up to the internet again, my brand new computer
was laid to rest, the hard drive died, and the list goes on.
???
First I just like to thank the people who
thought up the idea of this web site, my father who passed away this year
would have been very proud that we think enough of our fore fathers, that
we do not let their memories die.
???
When my father passed away he left his
medals and some personal papers to me, I was fortunate enough that a lot
of his original papers are intacted. I was hoping that someone out there
could help me with some of the information on my fathers' Certificate of
Demobilization, it is hard to understand the writing, it was issued in
"Predappio Italy on Oct. 15, 1946." I cannot find that name on
the map.? I have only four of his medals, on the same certificate on
part 14 under decorations they are listed as follows,"Br.K.Z.zM.,
K.M.C., G.W.1939/45., G.IT., B.C.M.S., C.MONTE CAS., The 1939/45 STAR, IT
STAR." In part 18 and 19 it states that he was demobilized from the
Polish Forces abroad on Nov. 13 1946 and transfered to Service
Territorial. I'm getting a little ahead of myself, the questions I was
asking, what are the medals that are listed and what was "Service
Territorial"? And finally my dads' place of birth is listed as
"Karlowicze pawii Rohiczyn waj: Polesie Polska" and to top it
off I cannot find that on the map.
???
Looking back and trying to imagin what my
father went through by being deported to Siberia and fighting with the
British, one would think that coming to Canada would be his first real
taste of living in a free country, I thought so, until I ran across a
wallet size docuement with my dads name on it ,? it reads
"Department of Labour Canada. This is to certify that Polish Veteran
Leon Bancarz has discharged the undertaking made with the Government of
Canada to remain in specified employment for a fixed period of time upon
admission to Canada. Dated Aug.22/49. Its signed by the minister of
Labour and the Deputy Minister, I remember that my dad told me one time
that he had to work on a farm in Quebec for two years in order to stay in
Canada, my mother had to work on a farm also she also had no choice, but
in her case she was deported to Germany, from Poland. So if anyone out
there can help me? Thank you.
