Hi Gary,
Our fathers shared similar routes in WWII. My father's diary lists
Predapio Alta, Predapio Nuovo, and other places in Italy, and I was
able to trace his army route in Italy.
It is quite likely that you will find names, locations, battles, and
general experiences in his diary that apply to your father, not just
in Italy, but Poland, the USSR and Middle East.
I hope "A Katyn & World War Two Diary" will be of help to you:
Indeed many Poles had to agree to work for two years on arrival in
Canada--often in conditions that could only be described as forced
labour. As well they had to agree, upon threat of deportation, not
to engage in "propaganda" (that is talking about Katyn, Soviet crimes
etc).
