If he was in the armed forces (or the border forces) he would have been captured by the Red Army in September 1939 and sent to a POW camp in the USSR. ?Can you give us any clues about what happened to him in Siberia and afterwards? ?It is now possible to research old soviet archives and they may be able to yield more information...

Dear Group,

Can someone help me out please?

I'm trying to fill a gap in my fathers life. He was 25 years old, farmer, living/working in Nachaczow [Nahaciv], Jaworow [Jahaciv], Lwow [Lviv] when the 'September Campaign' began. He was 'grabbed' and sent to Siberia.

Now, I've always assumed that he was 'grabbed', probably, from his home or the fields, BUT, I'm sure I've read recently[somewhere on the Net], that at the age of 21 years, young men enlisted into 'some sort of Army/Forces', this would be 1934/1935?

This is the old Kresy area, now West Ukraine, right on the current border with Poland.
