Hello from Canada I have a TS-950SDX which has developed an intermittent problem lately. I'm listening to the band in question (it could be any band) when quite randomly the speaker suddenly goes dead silent and at the same time the VU meter goes to full maximum. The radio doesn't seem to be putting any power out when this fault occurs. Then the fault clears itself up without me doing anything. Does anyone recognize this symptom and have any suggestions on what could be the matter? Thanks and 73s, geo VE3GZB

? Hi group... Does anyone know if there is a replacement/substitute for the RLS135 and similar diodes used in these rigs...? Maybe something which can be used in a pinch for testing...? I can't get much signal through the .5 to 1.6Mhz receive BP filter in my 450S even with the attenuator bypassed and the proper +7V bias applied to the circuit. All other bands are fine with no unusual attenuation. Ideas...? 73...Jordan VE6ZT

My TH-D7 seems to have become unable to charge either one of its battery packs through the power port on the radio. I have the original NiCd pack and an aftermarket NiMH battery pack. With the batteries being low, it goes into a reboot loop, but not when the charger is plugged in. It seems to work just fine from a real 13.8V power supply. Has anyone else seen this issue, and if so what's the fix; A shot of DeOxit, A new unobtanium power jack? Dave - AC2GL

Hi , My trusty TS440sat has a fault and was thinking of upgrading to TS590s (Not SG). I am solely CW and want to know if there is a knob to change the WPM speed? I do not want to go into menus to change the speed. Many thanks 73, Richard G0ILN.

Hi, I have a TS-850s with the standard ssb 2.7KHz 8MHz filter installed. If I were to install the narrow ssb 1.8KHz 8 MHz filter can I leave the 2.7 KHz installed or must I switch it? If both are installed would the new filter selection be indicated by the 500Hz indicator for example? regards, Shane EA5JDD

Hi All, I'm seeking help on the installation of a Piexx.com interface board (IF-10A/B/C) into my old TS 140. A few months ago when I received the board I installed it as per the instructions and as it is nearly identical to the original Kenwood board it was easy to install. Problems happened when I tried to use it (initially with N1MM) and I really thought I'd blown the unit - wiped a memory chip or something. The display was scrambled and alarming beeps were heard. I shut it down and started to look at buying a new rig. I threatened it with being replaced by a new Yaesu! Does anyone know if some set up procedure is required. There is a step in their instructions I don't understand about getting the Serial Interface to respond to command "if;" I'm out of my depth when it comes to finer points of programming. I crossposted this to a Kenwood Facebook group but need to cast a wider net for answers. I recently got a Kenwood SP-31 speaker (off eBay) to match with my nice TS-870. I plugged it in and the speaker itself seems fine. I downloaded the manual and read it, then started experimenting with the built in audio filters. But I can hear no evidence that they work, at all. This is disappointing and disturbing but before I ask the seller for a refund, wanted to see if someone here has experience and guidance. I push the three buttons in all the various possible combinations, but there is essentially no change in the audio. I found _three_ different CW signals close to each other, spread in tone from quite low to medium to high, and tried the filters. No change that I could tell, none were attenuated in the least. Same with SSB, no change in tone or noise or attentuation of nearby signals. Is this thing broken, or is there something else I need to know, my expectations somewhere off reality? Good Afternoon. I have a TH-75a and a TH-315 HT that I've had for decades and decided to clean up, replace internal battery, repair BNC connector and bring back to life (especially the 75a dual band). The th315 has a PB-2 (twist lock) NiCD battery, and th75 has the PB-7 (knb-7) slide lock NiMH battery. I have called all over for batteries and chargers...(they have the battery, not a charger), OR out of stock with no time of availability on both. I have tried W&W manufacturing (that's where i bought the battery for th75a back in the day), to no avail. (no response to email or call back from VM multiple times). Does anyone have any info on other charger Models that would work...or other possibilities that i can try to bring back these wonderful radios from my College days?? hi I have a kenwood TM-255 two metre multi-mode. It will not switch on. I have traced the fault to a regulator L78LR05B-FA. Farnell can supply them but only in large quantities RS does not seem to stock the part. has anyone any idea where I might get such a regulator. I have trawled the internet without any luck. I would like to get a speaker/mic for my TH-G71A. I saw on eBay some selling that were for both Kenwood and Baofeng HTs. I have a working speaker/mic for my Baofeng UV-5R HT, but it only works as an external speaker on my TH-G71A. What I wondered is whether the older Kenwood HTs used different microphone wiring on the older HTs? It's possible that this old HT has a bad connection at the speaker/mic jacks, too, so that's why I'm asking about this. If they didn't use different wiring back then, I won't bother trying to find a speaker/mic that works with it. One other thing I need to ask, and it's something I get confused about, is what do you call the SMA connector on this radio? Is it a male or a female connector? I need to get an adapter to allow me to use it on my J-pole in my living room (hidden behind the curtains). Hopefully the J-pole will allow me to make the local repeater. If not, I'll put up a mini-beam just for living room 2M chats using this HT. I like it better than my newer Baofeng. It's much easier to program from the front panel. In fact, I gave up trying to program it from the front panel and just use CHIRP instead. Thanks in advance!!! Donald KX8K
