Hello from Canada

I have a TS-950SDX which has developed an intermittent problem lately.

I'm listening to the band in question (it could be any band) when quite randomly the speaker suddenly goes dead silent and at the same time the VU meter goes to full maximum.

The radio doesn't seem to be putting any power out when this fault occurs. Then the fault clears itself up without me doing anything.

Does anyone recognize this symptom and have any suggestions on what could be the matter?
