The above is from the manual, and it seems to be saying that you have to use a menu to adjust speed. You could use an external keyer, or perhaps use a faster speed but allow more spacing between characters and words than would be used for the faster speed. I send code that way myself. If you have to vary your speed quite a bit, this wouldn't work for you. But if it only varies a few WPM, then it might work well. Many thanks for the prompt reply to my Question. It was good of you to go to the trouble of finding the page in the instruction manual. I looked at the specification sheet but could find any reference to CW speed. I use a stand alone keyer at the moment and it works well(Home brew). looking at the Instruction manual page 42. It looks as though once you have set up the speed via the menu you can leave it displayed on the screen (and adjust WPM )and still be able to see what frequency you are on. My everyday radio is a Yaesu Ft857 and you have a choice between key speed or frequency display you can't have both. So it looks as though the TS590 would work OK for me. Thanks again for your time; much appreciated. Best wishes for the New Year 73 and Good DX. Richard G0ILN Fists 398. On 31 December 2022 at 18:16 Donald Hellen <donhellen@...> wrote: |

My everyday radio shifts between my Icom 7300 and my newly acquired 705. (My 7100 is for mobile use.) I like working QRP with the 705, and will be doing that this afternoon at the clubhouse, where there's no noticeable RF noise. You have a nice line up of radios there Donald. I always think of Icom as the cream of commercially made rigs. (Not counting K3's or Tentec). You are lucky to have a club house our regular meet once a month folded because of Covid. It wasn't a club house as such just a meeting room. We have started weekly field days at a local beauty spot which has a cafe on site so at least we can put out a few calls then go for a Coffee and a slice of cake! In the south of UK at the moment the WX is damp and quite warm for the time of year Overcast/ rainy and 10deg Centigrade. I hope you have escaped the very bad WX we are seeing on the TV every day. Keep warm, 73 Richard G0ILN. On 01 January 2023 at 16:42 Donald Hellen <donhellen@...> wrote: |
