Re: Modifying weather.txt
There's 3 columns that need to be on each line. Each column is separated by a space.
FALSE is the first column. Tells the checkbox to be blank in YAD
Second column is what gets posted to the body of the email. This is the line responsible for the actual request via Winlink and comes from the Winlink catalog.
Third line is a description and CAN NOT include any spaces.
?
What did you add to the file?

Trying clean install of 73 Linux and no WINE under it. Discovered Pi-Apps. Pretty neat. But won't install WINE completely on my Pi 4. Should I start all over again with 32 bit?? Thanks, KM6QAQ? 73

Modifying weather.txt
Good morning,
I am trying to set up the weather.txt so that I can select areas in Canada. By default, Pat only has US locations. I have found the weather.txt file and added the information to get the weather where I live but in the menu selection it still shows LAS VEGAS where I put in the city where I live.
?
Suggestions on how to fix this? Is there another file that I need to modify?
?
TIA

Building a Pi with pat winlink and hotspot
Mostly, I need pat winlink, and hotspot capability. But other programs might be needed to like flrig, ardop, and other related programs, so the question is: Is the latest (bookworm) ok, or do I need to go with legacy (bullseye) ? ROTCTLD in hamlib having issues
I am trying to get ROTCTLD to connect my Rotor and I keep getting failures.
?I checked and made sure that the rotor was connected as: /dev/ttyUSB0
The GETHUB for the AntRunner Rotor just had the command : ?
The rotor works with hamlib on my windows laptop and with Gpredict on the lap, as well.?
I'm sure that i am missing something simple. The rotor is listed in hamlib as
2401 ?BG5DIW ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? GRBLTRK via Serial ? ? ?20220515.0 ? ? ?Beta ? ? ? ? ?ROT_MODEL_GRBLTRK_SER
2402 ?BG5DIW ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? GRBLTRK via Net ? ? ? ? 20220515.0 ? ? ?Beta ? ? ? ? ?ROT_MODEL_GRBLTRK_NET ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: 73 Linux and access point
Yeah, there are a few workarounds I could do but they all involve extra steps or hardware. I would prefer a software solution like currently installed with Buster.? On Wed, Apr 9, 2025, 10:59 Chris Pawelko (VE6TNO) via <ve6tno=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: 73 Linux and access point
If you want to do it so that you have one Wi-Fi interface on the RPi to be your access point and another for updates (to your phone, etc.) you could use an external USB adapter and when the RPi scans and sees the SSID of yoru phone or even your home Wi-Fi, it will connect and you can do your updates.

Re: Raspberry pi op sys version
I had issues with it running on a Pi3 with 64-bit and the latest version of the OS I stepped down to the legacy version and it's working better it's not perfect but it's workable. I installed it over Linux on a laptop though and it is perfect. Michael Easter Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Re: 73 Linux and access point
Unfortunately, it doesn't make sense for my use case (which is why I'm mostly still on Buster). I've got a unit that stays in my Jeep and does a lot of things..ACARS decoding, ADS-B, P25 Scanner, and all of the ham radio things as well. I have an old Android phone that is my scanner display and interface (which connects to the Pi Hotspot) but when I need to do updates or interface with the internet, I turn on my real phone Hotspot and the Pi automatically switches to the network as needed. it's been doing that for 4 or 5 years now and I'd like for it to keep doing that.? Re: 73 Linux and access point
yep. it makes sense to just plug it into a wired network when you got back home, to do updates and stuff. that way your wireless setup never gets touched. 73, Jerry ---- Extra Ham Radio Operator: WF5W Registered Linux User: 275424 3D CAD designer (FreeCAD) The most exciting phrase to hear in science - the one that heralds new discoveries - is not "Eureka" but "That's funny...". - Isaac.
