Stuck ferrite coils

Hi all,

I know this is a generic question and there's many variables but I thought I'd try.

What?are some of you guy's?tricks to free up stuck ferrite coils?
I may have a stuck coil but I'm not sure. It's not in a Hallicrafters but I do
know it's kinda a common thing. BTW, it's not from wax.

Thanks, 73, and Happy New Year!

Re: removed

Walt, I don't know what happened but I do know sometimes GroupsIO will automatically remove someone if they report it as spam.
How it knows I don't know but that's one possibility. The only time I had seen that it was done accidentally.

You didn't mention manufacturer or where you got it. On Amazon, the price for the Tinysa ultra seems to vary from $159 to roughly $240 depending on manufacturer and ad contents.

I got first tinysa a couple years ago. Now paired with the tinysa ultra, the only piece of test equipment on the bench I now use is the scope.

As I understand it there was an issue with several lists due to a faulty major upgrade.? I believe it has been fixed.

Walt, for those of us ?that have a hard time seeing those little screens, is there an output for a signal display on a larger screen?

Walt, congrats on the calibration.
?
Question since I'm new to these devices, can a TinySA, inject a signal into a tuned circuit on 2 meters to find out where its resonant ?
?
IOW, I have built a 2 meter 1kw amplifier but can't get any drive into it because the SWR going into the grid is way off meaning its resonance is way off in the hinterlands and I need to find out where its set to.

Re: A good start

That is indeed a good start for the New Year. Am now back on track with the SR-150+ here and ready to restart the VFO and RIT/CAL checkout.

With just some preliminary testing it appears the receiver is all good except for possibly some minor alignment touchup. Am going to do a fresh print of the new version of the manual. Just wish I could get a slightly larger version of the schematic as my eyes not that good for the tiny print anymore.

Ureka, it passed the self-test. Ureka, level cal, no problem. Selected low out, set the frequency to 7.175, set the ultra output to -33db, set the external step attenuator for -40db. I then turned the low gen on and HU RAH the S-meter went to S9 and the audio output meter/load registered 2watts.?

It was right there I didn't even have to retune the 500.

Thanks to some timely and useful information from Dick, W7KDL, I did indeed have the Bandspread set wrong. ?I had the bandspread dial zeroed with the tuning cap at maximum instead of minimum. ?Once that was fixed I was able to align everything spot on. ?Thanks Dick!

Hello all,? not about this topic, but earlier today I could not find what I thought I had just seen from Bill [owner] ?and went on-line and found every recent post ?to be LOCKED.? Not so long after they were not locked. ?Maybe a traffic jam in the Christmas rush?? ,, or my computer? Or it’s operator? Or was GIO being funny maybe?

Edited

Making good strides with mine, working some issues with alignment.? I'm wanting to know if the situation with the bandspread below is normal, or if I'm doing something wrong:

Bandspread Set, and plates fully meshed:

Plates fully open, but Bandspread stops at 3.95 but I can see 4.0 further to the right.

Do I have something backwards?

Well, it doesn't sound bad Jerry, but I do hear the pull of the CW note.
I presume you've tried different a oscillator tube?
Have you looked at the output at the vfo on a scope?
