Re: Off-the-wall question
I bought an XM receiver at a hamfest a few years ago. It was "open". To use it, you tune your FM car radio to an open frequency and simply listen to it. No hardwire necessary. I assume they still work

Hallicrafters S-107 Very First version...Not the MK1
Working to restore a S-107. This is the first version with the 6SC7 tube before they went to the 12AX7.
I can only find a schematic for the MK1 & 2 which use the 12AX7.

Re: Off-the-wall question
You also can get a cheap fm transmitter that plus into your sirius's unit, and transmits to the fm band. ?Again, very cheap and Amazon likely has them.

Re: Off-the-wall question
You can get a device that is a casette-shaped interface that you put in the casette deck, and that has an aux input. Since it is a bit dated, look for a used one on eBay perhaps. Cheap.

Re: SX-111 Crystal Calibrator
As Ed stated the most common cause for the calibrator failure is the function switch.
I would clean the switch, clean the pins and sockets of SO2 if still not working check the voltage at the pin 2

Have only worked on a couple of those and one did have a faulty calibrator with an obvious problem. A previous tinkerer had broken the plastic envelope of the crystal and then tried to repair it with

SX-111 Crystal Calibrator
Greetings
I am restoring an SX-111. The Crystal Calibrator does not work. The 6AU6 tube tests good, I will be tracing the circuit. Has anyone seen this problem and its solution?

When you get around to alignment, remember that the heterodyne oscillator tracks above the received frequency by 455 Kc on all band EXCEPT the top band (15.5 to 44 Mc). There it tracks below the
