Re: DQ-10 woofer dilema
If I were in your shoes, I would refoam both woofers at the same time so they perform similarly and have the same lifespan. Foam surrounds should last 10-15 years before deteriorating. It's convenient

Re: DQ-10 woofer dilema
I would use the least "worked on" pair that you have since any woofer
that's had the cone, spider
voice coil parts replaced is likely not correct because replacement parts

Re: DQ-10 woofer dilema
Thanks guys. Part of me was thinking maybe they'll be fine since I'll be crossing over to a sub around 60hz. But the motor structure looks different. To me the chances of them sounding the same are

I did my first surrounds with a Simply Speakers kit, and it was a breeze.

Re: DQ-10 woofer dilema
The top one in the second photo looks like an original DQ 10 woofer. It has a Masonite surround so it’s a 10 inch woofer in a 12 inch frame. This one should work well. If you’re not familiar with

Re: DQ-10 woofer dilema
If you think the original speaker can be saved, the best re-foaming place I've used is http://millersound.net
You can e-mail them and see if they can rescue the previous bad job. Bill is very helpful

DQ-10 woofer dilema
I have this pair of DQ-10's I've been getting ready to restore/rebuild. One of the woofers has had the foam surround redone and they did what looks to me like a terrible job. The other one looks

Here are a few pictures to (hopefully) help illustrate the phase issue I encountered with my DQ-10s. The first photo is the rear of the Left Speaker. This is the untouched factory wiring as far as I

Re: DQ-10 phase issue found and corrected
The out-of-phase connection of Woofer-mid, midrange and superTW can already be seen on the crossover diagram. However, since the latter is not usual, I wanted to confirm by simulating the crossover

When it comes to matters like these, it would be great if members could snap photos (maybe before and after a mod, or just to clarify what component they are referring to) and post them. Much easier

Re: DQ-10 phase issue found and corrected
From what I understand the woofer and tweeter are in phase while the mid-woofer, midrange and supertweeter are out of phase. This unfortunately not only alters the imaging but also the timbre of the
