Re: Anyone using a DAC? Which ones? Diminishing returns on vintage speakers?
I get your point Greg and thanks. I own the whole Dahlquist kaboodle (2 pairs of 10's, 2 subs, and active Xover so I'm all onboard with DQ!!) That said, I was merely trying to convey that this isn't a

Re: Anyone using a DAC? Which ones? Diminishing returns on vintage speakers?
I have all my music on a NAS device, and then use an Oppo 205 to stream audio directly to my amp. No preamp required. The Oppo 205 has a ES9038pro dac chip. The sound is amazing, and you can also use

Re: Has anyone used one of these to measure speaker performance/range?
Haven't done this before Ed. Whats involved and what do you do with the results? and is it a "use it once and then never again" type device?

Re: Anyone using a DAC? Which ones? Diminishing returns on vintage speakers?
Hey bluesound? node streamer is a no brainer, if you get it used it will stay in the budget you want. The Hafler 500 is a great pairing for the DQ-10 .Hope this helps.? Bes5

Re: Anyone using a DAC? Which ones? Diminishing returns on vintage speakers?
Don't short-change the DQ-10s. They hold their own very well against all but the very highest end modern offerings, especially if you pair them with a sub, as you've done. Almost any external DAC is

Anyone using a DAC? Which ones? Diminishing returns on vintage speakers?
Want to play my digital music library through my reasonably costly system (Dq-10's, Dq1W sub and LP1 Xover) Hafler 500 amp and pondering the need for an outboard DAC to extract the best sound. Unsure

Re: Has anyone used one of these to measure speaker performance/range?
Hey Charlie - what do you mean by "stress " on the USB-C port? Also, I keep wishing you'd resuscitate your DQ-10 Total Makeover project. I have a spare pair I'd love to tweak and compare to my other

Re: Has anyone used one of these to measure speaker performance/range?
Yes and be careful, it will put a lot of stress on the usbC connector. You will also need an AP that can apply the cal files. Charlie Conger 713 472 9140

Re: Has anyone used one of these to measure speaker performance/range?
The price is right. I wonder about the accuracy. I use the UMIK and it requires a calibration file for 0 and 90 orientation. But for a quick check on things, this may be fine.

Has anyone used one of these to measure speaker performance/range?
Looking at the Dayton Audio iMM-6C Calibrated USB-C Measurement Microphone for Apple/ Android. Seems like a handy little device to gather some data and maybe use as a reference to tweak things like

Re: DQ-1W As Powered Subwoofers
Hi SpongeSound, I'm using my Subwoofer, Pre Out jacks, but I think I've found the answer to my own question. In the AVR manual, I found, where it says that I can use those connectors with an external

Thanks, Steve. I’m going to make it work well, and after reading your reply, I think I need to go back to using my crossover. I do wish I had your setup, though. That must be working better than

Re: DQ-20 capacitor list for recapping purposes?
I fund the original stands to be too wonky and too large a footprint so I bought and attached four slim metal legs to mine and they really look nice (maintain the mid-century modern look) are stable

Re: DQ-1W As Powered Subwoofers
Does your Yamaha have a Zone 2? or 3 Out? Or maybe a dedicated preamp OUT. I suspect you're using one of those but worth checking.

Re: DQ-20 capacitor list for recapping purposes?
Hi, I’m looking for the 3 pillar stands, if anyone has a pair they’re not using or want to part ways with them, let me know. Appreciate it

Re: DQ-1W As Powered Subwoofers
I have had a similar setup.? I use an LP-1 to separate the preamp signals so that a McIntosh MC 2205 drives the DQ-10s and a Carver amp drives each of the two DQ-1Ws.? Each Carver amp is 700W

Re: DQ-20 capacitor list for recapping purposes?
If I recall, there were two versions of the stands. One was made of three pillars vertically between the shelf that held the speaker and the board on the floor. The other had one solid piece of wood.
