Re: DQ-10 woofer dilema

I would use the least "worked on" pair that you have since any woofer that's had the cone, spider
voice coil parts replaced is likely not correct because replacement parts are close or just look the
same.? I look for replacements used that just need foam and leave everything else original.
Check glue joints.
Check for flatness of the spider.
Carl (RIP) measured the all new replacement and the in box Fc is too high due to a stiffer spider.
Measurements are posted on the Classic Speaker Pages.

Thanks guys. Part of me was thinking maybe they'll be fine since I'll be crossing over to a sub around 60hz. But the motor structure looks different. To me the chances of them sounding the same are slim. So yes, I'll send the poorly rebuilt one off since I don't trust myself to do it right - and I don't really have the time. I don't even really have time to rebuild these, but it's something I want to do so I make time here and there for it.

Thanks for the input. The Simply speakers guys are just a couple miles from me, but I have to mail it to them anyway - they're rules for some reason. Or I'll send it to this Miller Sound. I really was hoping I had saved myself time and trouble buying a set of rebuilt ones. Dumb of me to let them sit there for a couple months trusting there were exactly that. Tempting to just get the "new" Advent replacements that Simply speakers sells, but again, I'm doubting they sound the same. After all, when I look at old pictures, the old Advents also had that masonite setup for whatever reason.
