Help Program Yaesu FT-65R with Chirp
11
I cannot get my brand new Yaesu FT-65R to program using Chirp and the Yaesu SCU-59 programming cable. I am in Memory mode. Windows 10, Device manager shows ¨C Prolific PL2303GC USB Serial COM Port (COM4) When I use Chirp, I get the following error message Failed to communicate with radio: Incorrect echo on serial port. Radio off? Bad cable? And the display on the radio shows: Clone OK. Obviously it¡¯s not OK. I¡¯m dumbfounded. This is the first time I have ever had a problem using Chirp to program my radios, various Baofeng, Alinco, and even Yaesu FT-818ND. So I¡¯m not exactly new at this. Only having a problem with my new HT. Can Anyone help me on this? Or is everyone using RT systems software? Thanks, Richard AG5M

Is it possible in Chirp to have a transmit and separate receive ctcss tone for a frequency? If so how do I program that?

TYT TH-9800 issue on Linux X86 version
3
I copied the NEW software down to my Linux Mint laptop. 1. I fired up the Chirp program 2. did a dmesg --follow to see what was going on, plugged in the cable, (it said it was attached to /dev/ttyUSB0 3. menu item to download from the radio 4. no devices at all show up. but there's a help me item. Doesn't work. I enter /dev/ttyUSB0. Doesn't work. Nothing I do works. So, I go into my closet, and bring down the ONLY laptop I have with Windoze 10 on it. And do the same thing. 1. installed the NEW chirp program 2. plugged in the cable, Device Manager said it was COM4 3. menu item to download from the radio 4. no devices show up, I manually put in COM4 5. it works. I have come to the conclusion that the NEW Chirp program is BROKEN on Linux, but works on Windoze. I, of course, would prefer NOT to have to drag then Windoze laptop out to do what use to work good on my Linux systems. Am I wrong? If so, what didn't I do that would change my mind? Jerry WF5W

UV-K6
Hi. Using Chirp, can you assign memories to each scan list? I can only seem to do this via the front panel and can't see any option in Chirp to do it.

Anytone AT778UV
4
New to this group -- are there any users of the Anytone AT778UV? I have one specific question at the moment: Is there any way to separately access and program the A and B memory banks in CHIRP? My objective is to put all the 2 meter repeaters in the A bank and the 440 repeaters in the B bank. Is that possible?

csv power column
2
A csv file that I built will be blended with the downloaded images of several different radios. The "Power" column defaults to 50W, but handhelds aren't capable of that much power, of course. I try to delete the value to let the radio operator select a minimal power level at the time of choosing any given memory location, but CHIRP next-20231016 csv editing insists on a value. How to deal with this, please?

DTSC CODES....

Hey folks I'm not even sure this is the right place to ask my question but I can't seem to find the information I need anywhere on the net. I've been working on moving channel information from a Kenwood to a Baofeng and it's been a learning process. I got the first two channels to work, however when I went to enter the last two I found that I couldnt find them in CHIRP. So why can't I find D450and 460???? I thought I found something about channels that were basically duplicates but 450 and 460 werent listed. PLEASE HELP!!!! Yaesu FT-4Xr
3
I bought a Yaesu FT-4Xr last month, but ran into errors reading from and writing to it with chirp. I can read and write with the Yaesu software, but it's pretty bare bones (and I'm running it on VirtualBox/Windows, so it is incredibly slow). Are folks able to program this radio with chirp (preferably on Linux, but Windows works too)? If yes, is there some particular build needed, or some setting that isn't obvious? I've used chirp on several different radios over the years and this is the first time I've been unable to use it to program a radio. Thanks. Mike, KL7MJ

ICOM IC-2820H uploading issue
4
The ICOM IC-2820H is on the list of supported rigs for CHIRP. I was able to successfully download from the radio into my Windows 10 PC running CHIRP. I could manipulate the .img file on CHIRP. However I've had no luck uploading from CHIRP into the radio. I checked old tickets on DANPLANET and I know this was an issue with the original CHIRP. I've tried using several different USB-Serial adapters with no luck. Anyone have any success uploading to this radio from CHIRP? 73 -- Greg VA7BC Vancouver

How does one add a radio to the list of supported radios?
2
I read online that Chirp supports the Yaesu receiver model FRG-9600. It is not however in the drop down list. I am a new user of Chirp. Are there other lists of radios supported? How does one go about adding a radio to the list. Thanks for reading this. 73, Alan AA6DW

What does "Select band plan" (under the "Radio" menu) do?
5
Howdy everyone, just started using Chirp, latest version (20230810) under Win10 in case it makes a difference. As per the subject, can't see this menu option mentioned in the docs (nor anywhere else), and selecting it and then the band plan for my region (IARU 2) apparently it changes nothing... TIA!

Chirp Issues
6
Hi all, I just joined the group. Earlier today I used Chirp for the first time and after a few fits and starts I managed to get a repeater list onto my TH-F6A. First problem I had was not realizing that I had to change a menu setting on the radio so the spk/mic jacks would ¡°talk¡± to a computer. Next I found out the hard way that after editing my repeater list I should¡¯ve deleted all the blank lines in the.csv file. Ok, so now I have repeaters in my radio and it scans just fine. But when it stops on an active channel I see the repeater call sign. I would rather see the repeater frequency. Can anyone provide advice as to how to make that change? Thanks, Lisa ?

CHIRP Help / Baofeng VU16 Pro
3
I have a quick question for the group. I have purchased a Baofeng VU16 Pro (Dual Band model). Somehow I have overwritten the base file I had saved when I got the radio before I started programming it with CHIRP. I have also reset the squelch settings and have set them too high. I have searched the web and have yet to find a copy of the base file. I have checked out RT Systems, but they shouldn't be the only software to program he radio. I see so many others reference CHIRP for the Baofengs, I agree, I don't get all the features uploaded (I use Baofeng BF-F8HP) to program as my radio isn't listed (yet). I hope I'm not breaking any rules but I'm also posting this to the Baofeng group in hopes of getting assistance also. What I'm looking for is the following: 1. Base file for the Baofeng VU16 Pro Dual Band radio 2. The original numbers for the squelch settings for the VU16 Pro Thank you in advance -- Eddie Carroll KD4BAS Western KY USA

CHIRP Tips Videos
There is a lot of useful content out on YouTube that provides step-by-step instructions for some general workflows with CHIRP. However, there are a lot of other things that you can do with CHIRP that never seems to get covered. There is now an official 'CHIRP Tips' YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@chirp-tips) which was created to be a source of very short to-the-point videos that cover some of the more obscure features. Things you may or may not know about, or that you feel you don't quite understand enough to use properly, or things that have been added and gone unnoticed. The first videos that have been added to the channel are listed below. Stock Configs in CHIRP https://youtu.be/U3s5cT3IAco Advanced Editing in CHIRP https://youtu.be/9UgJjwaXlrY

Help Install Chirp Linux Mint v21.1
7
I'm having problems making Chirp work on Linux Mint ver 21.1. I read the following: Updated by Bruce Emehiser 9 months ago There is now a known solution, which was provided to me via email. Hi Bruce. Don't know if you have solved it but I've had the same problem you had with CHIRP. I have Ubuntu too and trying to find a solution I founded your report. The problem appeared when I upgraded certain system files so I found this problem: When upgrading the python files, the module collections give you the ABC method Callable. The chirp file pyPEG.py call this method as "collections.Callable" three times. You can found the file under: /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/chirp/ I've try this solution and works fine for me: duplicate the file pyPEG.py and save the copy with another name (only for backup, I use to do so) edit pyPEG.py with root permission (sudo...) substitute the three calls "collections.Callable" with "collections.abc.Callable", so the line remains like isinstance(pattern, collections.abc.Callable): I try to edit the file as noted, but am unable to save it. How do I get permission to save the file? I also read: Dan accepts pull requests on github.com and also via mailing list (I can't get emails from the mailing list since outlook.com appears to be silently blocking them so I go through github.com). https://github.com/kk7ds/chirp/tree/py3 I go there, but do not understand what to do with it. As you can tell, I'm not an experienced Linux person in these matters. Can anyone help me with getting Chirp to work on this Linux Mint laptop? Or if it going to be SO complicated, I'll just stick with my Windows machine and call it good. But would really like to understand this and get it to work on Linux. Thank you so much, 73 Richard AG5M

Radio reference
5
When programming any of my transceivers with chirp, when I try and query data source (radio reference). It gives me an error. And here it is: Server raised fault: 'Not a premium subscriber. Please see http://www.radioreference.com/apps/subscription for more details on upgrading your account.' Is this correct? That I have to be a premium(paid) subscriber?

Wouxun KG-UV8E unable to see or change settings

So I download from HT. Get the image file, I'm able to change. Add, delete and do whatever you want, when I click on settings there's nothing there, just a blank page. No type of format, no error message, no nothing. So unable to have Repeater names, channels shows nothing on display of HT Anyone seen this before? Is there a fix? I can upload to radio but it doesn't show anything in channels other than channel 1 , 2, 3 and so on. Needing next step All help appreciated
