DTSC CODES....

Hey folks I'm not even sure this is the right place to ask my question but I can't seem to find the information I need anywhere?on the net. I've been working?on moving channel information from a Kenwood to a Baofeng and it's been a learning process.? I got the first two channels to work, however when I went to enter the last two I found that I couldnt find them in CHIRP. So why can't I find D450and 460????? I thought I found something about channels that were basically duplicates but 450 and 460 werent listed.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

The codes 450 and 460 aren't found in CHIRP because they aren't found in the UV-5R. CHIRP cannot make a radio support a code that it isn't capable of supporting.

The UV-5R, like most radios, only supports the common DCS codes. If you have a radio that is using other codes, then it is including non-standard codes

There are something like 512 possible DTS codes. The way they are coded, many of them are duplicates. This is why the list of standard tones is much smaller. It removes the duplicates.

The following are the 'common' DTCS codes that are supported by CHIRP

# 104 DTCS Codes
DTCS_CODES = (
??? 23,? 25,? 26,? 31,? 32,? 36,? 43,? 47,? 51,? 53,? 54,
??? 65,? 71,? 72,? 73,? 74,? 114, 115, 116, 122, 125, 131,
??? 132, 134, 143, 145, 152, 155, 156, 162, 165, 172, 174,
??? 205, 212, 223, 225, 226, 243, 244, 245, 246, 251, 252,
??? 255, 261, 263, 265, 266, 271, 274, 306, 311, 315, 325,
??? 331, 332, 343, 346, 351, 356, 364, 365, 371, 411, 412,
??? 413, 423, 431, 432, 445, 446, 452, 454, 455, 462, 464,
??? 465, 466, 503, 506, 516, 523, 526, 532, 546, 565, 606,
??? 612, 624, 627, 631, 632, 654, 662, 664, 703, 712, 723,
??? 731, 732, 734, 743, 754,
)

Baofeng and many other Chinese radios use this list of 104 codes and add an additional code (645), to make it 105 codes. Then these codes can be inverted to create a list of 210 available DTCS(DCS) codes.

A lot of times when a non-standard code is being used, it is possible to program the common code that is a duplicate of it. Unfortunately the D450N does not have a match with any of the common codes, so you are out of luck. No tones or codes are needed for listening, so at least you can program no CTCSS tone or DCS code and listen to the traffic on channel 3.

D460N does have some common duplicates. You could program channel 4 of the the UV-5r with D654N or D743I. Either will work perfectly with D460N.

Thank you very much I can't speak to how the Kenwood was programmed for non standard codes we've had them in use at work for at least 10 years so it's lost in the fog of time.? Does anything change if the radio is a UV-9r pro programming as a UV-82 something I can't remember what now lol.
We rarely use anything but channel 1 so it doesn't break my heart not to have transmission on 3.? Thanks for the help!!
