ICOM IC-2820H uploading issue

The ICOM IC-2820H is on the list of supported rigs for CHIRP.? I was able to successfully download from the radio into my Windows 10 PC running CHIRP.? I could manipulate the .img file on CHIRP.? However I've had no luck uploading from CHIRP into the radio.?

I checked old tickets on DANPLANET and I know this was an issue with the original CHIRP.? ?I've tried using several different USB-Serial adapters with no luck.?

Anyone have any success uploading to this radio from CHIRP??

Two things come to mind. This is based on my experience with a Baofeng HT, but
it might also apply to your radio.

With some radios, you need to open the volume control enough to allow the data
signals to be strong enough to be processed by the radio. One user claimed that
it has to be set at a medium level, and that with the volume full on, it also
doesn't work. I am not sure the last part is correct, but if you haven't tried
this, it certainly won't hurt.

The other thing that comes to mind is the data cable. With the Baofeng, if you
don't buy a cable that says it uses a Prolific chip in it. The Prolific driver
recognizes fakes, and there are a lot of fakes being sold. If it's fake, it
won't be recognized by the driver. The safer bet is to buy a cable with an FTDI
chip. The safest of all is to buy the radio maker's official cable. In the case
of the Baofeng, the branded cable is cheap, so there's no reason to skimp on
price. The most you'd save is maybe $4.

So if you haven't considered the cable or the volume control setting, take a
look and see if either of these might be why you're not getting results. My
experience is on a different radio, but the cable issue could be with any radio.
With the volume control, it might not be an issue with all radios.

To add to what I said, I found a forum thread on EEVBLOG that discusses the fake
Prolific chips, and there seems to be a work-around, using an older driver
intended for Win 7 64 bit. You would want version 3.3.2.105 of the driver. If
it doesn't remove the newer driver, you can do that yourself, then install the
older driver, and restart. Check Device Manager to be sure it's using the old
version. You may have to roll back the driver to use the older one.

(You may need to copy and paste the entire URL since my email reader doesn't
look like it continued the link after the first parenthesis.)

This is only something you may want to do if you think you have a fake Prolific
cable. There are other chips that work well, and the FDTI chip is the most
common, and I haven't read of any driver issues. There's yet another chip that's
a Chinese one, and you have to search for a driver for it. I have an "octopus"
cable with 8 different ends on it on one side, and a USB end on the part that
connects to the PC. It works well, too. But I had to find a forum thread
somewhere that had a link to the driver.
