No Steam at South Simcoe?
I sent this to the "Canadian Railways" list a couple of days ago, but I
got no responce, so I'm trying the "C-P-R" list since South Simcoe has
ex-CPR power.
I saw a post on an online railfan message

Re: Unit train coal haulers
Manny:
Unfortunately it looks like the days of the great SD40-2 have ended for
unit coal service. The last SD40s on 800 series coal trains I saw were
in 1995, back when the 9500 AC4400s were new and

Re: 5767/5863/5911
These units seem to be assigned to the StL&H, as I see them a lot in
Binghamton (on the D&H) and in Little Ferry (on the NYS&W).

Re: Unit train coal haulers
Hi Doug,
Thanks for the useful information, much appreciated! One final question though.
Can we consider the age of exclusive SD40-2s on coal trains to be behind us now?
=(
Or does it still happen

Re: Chelmsford derailment.
Well, thankfully, it wasn't really that big of a deal at all. It happened
and the majority of it cleaned up before much could be said. The details
were posted elsewhere previously and on this list

Chelmsford
The CPR makes a big mess with a train in Chelmsford, ON, and not a single
word is mentioned about it here? What a sorry excuse for a CPR list this
one is. :)
Anyway, as a result of the derailment

5767/5863/5911
Are SD40-2s 5767, 5863 and 5911 still in the large multimark paint? I guess these
are the last three so-painted units in revenue service eh?

Re: Chelmsford
well, not much really to say about it.
about 12 - 13 cars jumped the track about 3:30 - 4:00 in the morning,
looking mostly from the photos of the news, mostly empty center beam flats
were involved.

Unit train coal haulers
coal trains
The normal car for most unit coal trains is still the CPR style bathtub
coal hopper in the 3 height versions. These cars are usually not sorted
into groups based on the height
