Re: Not Showing Up on APRSICE but on APRS-FI
Lynn Deffenbaugh
开云体育There are LOTS of moving parts behind what shows up on your local map.?? For instance: 1) Do you have an APRS-IS port configured and Enabled??? If you double-click the upper left (or top center) APRS-IS OK (presuming it even says that) box, what do you see as your connected APRS-IS server??? It will look something like:
Port Status 2) Do you have Enables / Internet Access checked 3) Have you set your "Me" location by zooming and clicking Transmit (or having an active GPS feed) 4) Do you have position beaconing enabled on your APRSIS32
instance (what is your APRSIS32 callsign-SSID?)??? If you don't
beacon a position, the APRS-IS server won't know where you are
and, by default, will likely not send you any packets whatsoever. 5) What do you have Configure / General / Range set to? 6) Do you have anything in your Configure / General / Add Filter box (you might want to try putting b/W4BJB* in there) 7) Are you seeing any stations at all on your map??? If so, are they near where you expect to see W4BJB*? 8) Are you seeing any packets going by in the packet scroller?? Make sure Configure / Scroller / Show All is checked. And those are just the ones that come off the top of my head.? The default "out of the box" settings "just work" to a radius of 50 miles (500*1/10 mile), provided that you panned/zoomed and clicked Transmit to set your "Me" location. I did find an APRSIS32 instance at W4BJB-1 that appears to have only been running for just over an hour.?? I sent it a ?APRSS and got back: 11:25:09> ?aprss 11:25:10< Ports[1/2] 05-09 09:56:11 APRS-IS OK 1250 84 /hr (*2-11:25:10) < Ports[2/2] 05-09 09:56:11 Weather Disabled (*2-11:25:10) At least those numbers tell me that
you're getting SOME packets back on the APRS-IS port!?? Provided
that is even the map on the instance that you're looking at.

PS.?? If you want, you can send your
APRSIS32.XML configuration file to me at KJ4ERJ at arrl.net and I
can run it here to see what I might figure out from your settings.

开云体育W4BJB13 (note the lack of a dash, any reason for that omission?) is on the CWOP network, not the APRS-IS network.?? You'll only get that in APRSIS32 if you add an additional port connected to a CWOP server, but be aware that CWOP doesn't support filters, so you'll be getting ALL of the CWOP stations if you configure that. Re: Documentation or help with setting up bpq32 and aprsis32 using same radio and computer soundcard
Hello
Thanks for the info, I do have kiss protocol available in bpq32 however not sure if that is just the mode or of I need a kiss tnc. I have a digipeater igate configuration for bpq32 from my Elmer.? What I'm trying to figure out is if I can add the entire aprsis32 app to my bpq32 machine and connect like that as an rf gate I gate. Right now my config of bpq I think is just tcp. Between the 2 programs I think there is a rfgate configuration. 145.390 1200baud? Tnx Mark K7OI? |
Re: Documentation or help with setting up bpq32 and aprsis32 using same radio and computer soundcard
OK I have some BPQ32 config information was sent to me. See I don't have knowledge if I need special equipment to run kiss as in a separate tnc or if I'm just running in kiss mode. Yes bpq has the ability to run in kiss if I create a kiss port. Which I already have 4 kiss ports created for future development. I'm going to continue to research and see if anyone has previous experience.? 73 Mark K7OI? On Wed, May 1, 2024, 1:42 PM Don Poaps via <va7dgp=[email protected]> wrote:

It's been years since I ran BPQ. You need to modify your BPQ32.cfg file as John Wiseman has info about running APRS.? 73 Don Poaps New Westminster, BC VA7DGP DATA VA7QU ? VOICE Winlink:?va7dgp@... 开云体育I'm not familiar with bpq32, but if it offers a KISS-over-TCP port, the connection would be trivial.? But before we dive into that, I'll see if anyone has actually made the connection already between bpq32 and APRSIS32. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

Documentation or help with setting up bpq32 and aprsis32 using same radio and computer soundcard
Hello
I have an instance of bpq32 and winlink rms running on my computer with a radio and signalink. Been running very well for nearly 1year. I have aprs running in bpq32 shows up as BBS. I have aprsis32 that works on another computer on rf and igate. But no extra radio and signalink. Would it be possible to add aprsis32 to my bpq32 running full time as rf/igate? |
Re: APRS iGate stopped working!
Keep in mind that the quoted values are "when a packet signal is present", not just open squelch noise.
Also, a high RXAMP is as bad or worse than a low on. I have tried 2 methods for setting RX amp: 1. Using a second radio to transmit packets (close by), I will set RXAMP when the MONITOR values are between 75 and 90. ? ? This is because of how strong the signal is. 2. When using a Data Jack, I use a soundcard TNC (like Direwolf) to a potentiometer and feed the TT4 a signal (Vpp) matching the port specification. ? ?In my Yaesu radios, that is 300 mVpp fro 1200baud and 500 mVpp fro the 9600 baud pin. ? ?Using that signal, I set the RXAMP for a monitor value of 75 - 80. These methods have worked well for me. ------- Robert Giuliano KB8RCO |
Re: APRS iGate stopped working!
Wooo Hooo!? It's now seemingly working as it has been.? I had my receive amp on the Tiny Traker 4 at 47.? Sure I hadn't changed anything but it wasn't receiving what it should have been so I turned it up more.? Same results.? I re-read the manual and it said signals should monitor at between 50 and 80 I think it was.? So I tweaked it to about 65 and now it works.? I think it was too high and the signals were distorting resulting in partial and sparadic captures that you documented so kindly.? Because of my station disorganization I would have sworn it was cable or connection.? Glad this is what it was.? Was starting to think maybe the radio was fried.? Thanks again so much for your time.? Hope someone else that stumbles upon this thread will also get some help out of it.? 73!? I attached a screen print to show it is now working and my mobile is being iGated through my base station at home.? I will assume the times are either correct or have no bearing on the correct processing of the packets into APRS.FI and such.

Re: APRSIS32 Time?
Lynn Deffenbaugh
开云体育The Time in the upper left corner is actually the Transmit Pressure.?? You can read about it at:The thin colored bars at the bottom of that pane are also documented that that wiki page. And yes, the trace logs are UTC time, hence the T separator although technically I should also have a Z or Z+00:00 but that seemed a bit verbose.? ()?? The "TOO LONG" indicates that additional data was received from the TCP/IP stack beyond the # logresp packet, which is likely normal depending on the speed of your PC and the Internet connection.? It's part of the wonders of CR/LF delimited packets being parsed from a TCP/IP streaming socket. In fact, this is a frequent newb TCP/IP programming misteak (sic)
where they "assume" (with all the connotations of that word) that
a single read will only and always get a single packet (line of
text, in the case of the APRS-IS) from a socket.?? In local
testing with fast loopback or Ethernet connections, it seems to
work, the read always returns just the data that was written in a
single write.? But when deployed to the field with the vagaries of
actual Internet connections and traffic routing, a single read may
have a partial packet, a full packet (which is all they expected),
a full packet plus part of the next packet, or even multiple
packets possibly ending with a partial packet. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

Re: APRSIS32 Time?
Lynn Deffenbaugh
开云体育Ok, I just double-checked the source and the timestamp in the ?APRSS response is actually the timestamp that the port entered the current state.?? I now remember doing this so that you can see if your RF or -IS port is going through state transitions.?? So the following lines
mean that those ports became "OK" at that (localtime) timestamp.?? My apologies for crying wolf when there was no need. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32 On 4/30/2024 10:46 AM, Lynn Deffenbaugh

开云体育Send yourself a ?aprss and see what time is shown in that response.?? I just did it and it shows 04-30 07:52:19 and my local time is 10:45:xx, so not even the minutes is correct.?? Unless, of course, the timestamp in the ?aprss response isn't actually the current time.? I didn't think of that until just now. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE
