Re: Marketing mail > Afrikaans
? Opens Vs. Unique Opens When you go to look at the campaign you have just sent in reports you may notice that there is two types of opens; opens and unique opens. There is a slight difference between these. An open is the number of times the email has been opened. A unique open is how many people have opened your email. So the difference is you could have 200 opens on an email but only 10 people have opened it 10 times. Or you could have 200 opens and 200 people had opened it. Example: Contact A opens the email 5 times. Contact B opens the email 3 times Contact C opens the email 10 times. When you look at the reports, it would say 18 opens but there would only be 3 unique opens (a, b en c) = aantal persone wat die e-pos oopgemaak het ? Bounce: ek sou s¨º ¡°bons¡± (wat ¡¯n bal doen as hy terugspring): ? How does Bounce Processing Work? A bounced address is when an email is undeliverable. There are a few types of bounces that mailingmanager processes:
A soft bounce is a bounce that occurs in situations like ¡°the users¡¯ mailbox is full.¡± A hard bounce is a permanent bounce such as ¡°the email account does not exist.¡± A temporary bounce occurs when there is a server issue. This bounce is not recorded against the contact as it is very likely that at the next send the email will be delivered. If it¡¯s a soft bounce, mailingmanager will record the bounce against the email address that has bounced but not take any action. If the same email address soft bounces 8 consecutive times it will turn from a soft bounce to a hard bounce. When it becomes a hard bounce, mailingmanager will no longer attempt to send campaigns to the bounced email address. ¡°Pass-over rate¡± kry ek net in die sin van ¡°oorslaankoers¡± (% wat oorgeslaan het), maar ek snap dit nie heeltemal nie. Miskien die aantal mense wat eenvoudig die pos uitgevee het. Click-through rate: Email click through rate is?calculated by the number of subscribers that have clicked on at least one link in your email marketing campaign. To calculate email click through rate, take the number of people that have clicked on your email campaign and divide that with the number of emails you have sent. Nog een: A. Click-through rate (CTR):?the percentage of people who clicked your ad per the times the ad was seen (impressions). B. Conversion rate: the percentage of people who saw the ad, clicked and completed a valuable action ? ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Therina Van der Westhuizen

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSpot on, Ricky! ? Yes, context is always hugely important, and while in technical translation one is mainly occupied with terminology, the moment humans enter into it, the whole game changes completely. ? He looks killing, he is dressed to kill (which is an entirely different thing when said of a woman!), dressed (up) to the nines), looks as smart as a new pin (threepence) would, I suppose, all be used by potentially different speakers in different circumstances and to match the relevant levels of style. ? You could also describe such a natty dresser as a paragon of sartorial style, and there¡¯s the ¡°liveried chauffeur smartly dressed¡± in the King¡¯s Singers¡¯ song about the nouveaux poor (for the paid-servant social level). ? ? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGewonder of iemand gaan vra¡! ? Nou, as ek moes gaan soek in What Ho!, ¡¯n bloemlesing van Wodehouse se beste, na what the well-dressed young gentleman is wearing this season sou ek so meegevoer word deur die storie dat ek vergeet wat ek wou soek. ? Hi Ricky I found the following in the very old 'Drietalige Idioomboek'. They use 'naald' instead of 'ring'. Jy kan horn deur 'n naald trek. He looks killing. He is dressed to kill (dressed (up) to the nines) . He looks as smart as a new pin (threepence). Hope it helps. Chrissie On Wed, 9 Nov 2022 at 11:07, Ricky Woods <rickywoods604@...> wrote:

Re: Translation
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhen it comes to being properly dressed, you couldn¡¯t get anything more authoritative than the way PG Wodehouse would have described the members of the Drones club, especially Bertie Wooster or Galahad, and he would have used the phrase ¡°immaculately dressed¡±, I think. ? He probably had more expansive ways of putting it as well, but looking it up in the printed literature Is quite a time-consuming task (mainly because of the Brockhaus effect). ? I¡¯m not sure that the issue of ¡°it doesn¡¯t translate¡± really comes up here. In my view, it¡¯s more a question of equivalence: a speaker in one culture would have expressed it one way, a speaker in another would have expressed it differently. ? In Afrikaans I might say ¡° Nou¡¯s ek gatvol!¡±, but in English one might say ¡°Now I¡¯ve had a bellyful¡± or ¡°I¡¯ve had it it up to here¡±. The anatomical relocation of the sentiment, or the loss of any such reference, would be immaterial, in my view. ? But there are as many views of what translation is or should achieve as there are authors on this subject, and I don¡¯t want to get involved in that debate.
