Re: Feature suggestion

Hey Muggs,
?
? ?You can keep it running here.? ?I just see more activity and get notifications quicker in FB.
?
? ?I was running v1.1.9.17 but downloaded what was on the store front (v1.1.9.14) to make sure the double click feature was still there.
?
? ?I may have provided to you via the website while developing.

I abhor FB, but OK, i"ll make all inquiries over there. Thanks.
?
BTW, You suggest v1.1.9.14, but I'm somehow running v1.1.9.17. I don't know how that's possible. LOL

Re: Feature suggestion

Sorry, normally all of the action is in FB.
?
I had trouble responding from my cell phone.
?
Your suggestion is a good one.? The feature you requested is in the current version (v1.1.9.14).
?
If you do not have the latest, go to your account and download the latest.

Feature suggestion

Hello Steve,

It would be really nice and convenient if when you double click on the Freq to bring up the Freq Set, we were then able to use the num pad!.

Thanks,

Re: What is this system output?

Ted,

? ?These are debug messages that should be silenced.? ?I can fix this in the next release.

What is this system output?

? YCAT ?** SYS ?| | asMenu: 03| asSubMenu: 02| asMenuItem: 02| asResponse: -15

I only get this on my FTdx10, the FT710 does not do this.

I have no boxes checked for LOGs

Re: Initial thoughts

Muggs,

? ?Yes, this is a good place for feedback and comments.

? ?In regard to the FT-dx10, the hurdle is likely with RTS, by default, is enabled in the radio.? ?In YCAT, that means that FLOW CONTROL would need to be enabled.? ?

? ?Another concern would be to check to make sure the serial port in Windows that you are connecting to is listed as "enhanced" one, as viewed in Windows' Device Manager.

? ?The mouse sliders were disabled when YCAT supported the FT-710 rig.? ?I too miss that feature as well.? ?There is an oscillation as a result of the behavior on the CAT port.? When sending a CAT command to the rig, the FT-710 sends the old data but all other Yaesu rigs send back the new value.

? ?For the "click the band" button, that is controlled by the rig.? ?However, I did find memory management very useful to me, for the same reason.? ?I hold an Advanced class license and find myself occasionally drifting into Extra class portions of the band.? ?I use the stored memory pairs (P1L/P1U through P9L/P9U).? ?This puts me in a band range and I can spin the dial.? ?The VFO will stay within the boundaries I set.

? ?I have looked at VFO changes using the mouse wheel, recently made changes to scroll in 1khz and 10 khz but not individually over a digit.? ?It could be done, but will require some time to redesign the VFO display to accommodate this change.? It is in our feature tracking system:? ?YCAT-0159 - Allow VFO changes per digit using mouse scroll wheel.

? ?There are some technical issues to resolve with this, each user may have different scroll lines per wheel mouse move.? Default is 3 as I recall, but I change mine to 1.? ?What happens is that each user may have different preferences.? By default, if I hover over say 1 KHz digit and scroll one click on mouse wheel, the digit would be changed in increments of 3 KHz.? ?The message comes to the application from Windows three times.? ?These increments/decrements would have to be counted within a specific timeframe to be ignored.? ?There are complications here.

? ?I hope this helps.

Best regards,
? ?Steve

Re: Initial thoughts

Steve,

OK, so, I've been using the YCAT software with great pleasure, however, I just bought a FTDX10 and I'm having trouble getting YCAT to work with the radio.
I literally just to delivery today, so I still have LOTS to learn and I'm sure I have a setting (or 6) wrong but I thought I would touch base and see if you may have a starting point for me.

Thanks,
Muggs

Steve,
Thanks, I think that would be the best. I am only 2 years old in the Ham hobby so take EVERYTHING I say with big grain of salt! LOL

Re: Initial thoughts

Muggs,

? ?One thought was to have an area assigned around each digit, if the mouse is in one of those regiions, it would increment or decrement the VFO frequency for that digit.

? ?An area of concern is the behavior of how Yaesu processes FAxxxxxxxxxx; messages.? ?It might allow the user to tune outside of the range specified in PxL/PxU frequencies if in that mode.? ?In the FT-dx10, I think it will push the radio outside of the range.? ?I believe the FT-710 will ignore or go to a band limit.? ? I will need to test with the FT-891 and FT-991a.

? ?The "Set Frequency" button will do the same thing.? ?It will set the VFO frequency to the value you type in the dialog box.? ?It is a simple test.

Best regards,
? ?Steve - KC5NK

Re: Initial thoughts

Steve,

?

Thank you for your well thought out reply. All of that makes perfect sense.

One thought is to allow the user to hover over the frequency “block” of numbers and change the various numerals using Shift, Ctrl, Alt buttons.

Re: Initial thoughts

Mugs,

? ?Thanks for purchasing YCAT!? ?

? ? This is a good place to make comments, seek support, feedback, etc.

? ? There was a time where YCAT did allow the mouse wheel to scroll the slider bars however with the FT-710 this became a problem with the way the FT-710 managed serial messages over CAT.? ?In order to provide support, the wheel mouse on the sliders was removed.

? ? The band buttons operate by sending a CAT band command.? ?I believe the frequency is the last frequency you operated in that band.

? ? There is another feature in Yaesu radios and that is the memory channel pairs P1L / P1U through P9L / P9U.? ?I use those to set my privileges for Advanced license.? What I especially like is that with my FT-891 the VFO will tune from the PxL to PxU limits (and vice versa) and rolls over.? ?The other radios (FT-710 / FT-dx10) just stop when they hit the limit and you have to tune in the other direction.? ?The FT-991a, I cannot recall if it rolls back or stops.

? ? There has been a request from a few users that the mouse wheel on the VFO readout changes in 1 KHz steps.? With the CAT commands the UP / DN commands are inconsistent between the radios.? ?This will be implemented in the next release.? ?We will look into incrementing/decrementing based on the digit the mouse is over.?

Best regards,
? ? Steve? - KC5NK

Initial thoughts

OK, first things first. I am using an FT-891 and saving for a 991a. The only thing I have to compare to is FLRig. With that said, I really like the graphical layout of YCAT & the analog gauges.
What I don't like so far (still evaluating, but I have purchased) is my mouse wheel doesn't work on all sliders and Mouse wheel over frequency only moves the frequency 100 Hz regardless of what number (kHz, MHz) my mouse pointer is over at the time. My apologies but in FLRig (again the only thing I can compare to) allows hovering over any number and scrolling to adjust that number. I hope that my ramblings make sense. Thank you so far I am liking this very much.

Also, is there a way to set "clicking on a band" to a specific frequency? as an example, I like to "spin the dial" and and so it would be helpful, to me at least, to click the 40M button and have it come in @ 7.175 (the beginning of my general privileges).
BTW, is this the best place for comments/suggestions?

TIA,
Muggs KC3UDZ
