It is with a heavy heart that I share with you, fellow rowers and friends of YRC, the news that Nancy Diessner’s husband, Dan, passed away last week. Such a kind man with a sweet soul, gifted artist, and loving partner to Nancy. All who knew him are feeling the loss. Nancy asked that I share with you that you are welcome to join Nancy, her family, and other friends at Dan’s green burial at Wildwood Cemetery, 70 Strong Avenue in Amherst on Monday, December 2nd from 11:00AM-12:00 PM. Also, Nancy is having a shiva/open house at her house for anyone who wants to drop by on Tuesday, December 3rd between 11:00 AM-4:00 PM. The address is 51 Baker Hill Rd, Florence. YRC 2024 Season has Closed
5
Hello Fellow YRC Members! Anita and I are writing to let you know that YRC 2024 rowing season is officially closed. The temp check and the seasonably cold weather is settling in. This means that club boats are no longer available. Private boat owners can row of course, though we urge caution. As we reflect on the season, one cannot help but recognize our good fortune of being able to row on such a beautiful body of water. We are also so fortunate to have another year’s use of a sweet little boathouse that is such a great home for our boats and meeting place for all who love this incredible sport. This year also brought some exciting things….new members, old friends returning to our club, and, of course, the return of our regular crew. We also had members compete in HOC and other races around New England. It was impressive to observe their commitment to their training and to hear about the racing adventures. Congrats! Anita and I want to express gratitude and thanks to the YRC Board. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to supporting the club. In particular, we want to express special appreciation for Carol and Craig. Carol, as the club’s treasurer, does so much to keep the club running. Her management of our membership and the club’s finances helps ensure our doors stay open (literally, since she facilitated the access to the garage door opener that actually works!) and keeps our club boats in good repair and accessible for members’ use. Also, Craig, who continues to tirelessly contribute countless hours to the club, our fleet, and all club members. Craig’s skills and commitment to maintaining and repairing club boats and his willingness to helping members with their own boats improves the experience of every member of the club. Thank you Carol and Craig for your enduring commitment and invaluable contributions to YRC and our members. Thanks for a great 2024 season. We are already looking forward to the 2025 season. Be well everyone and see you next year! Peace, Jaime & Anita YRC Co-Presidents Jaime Caron, LICSW (she/her) Clinician / Family Consultant / Permanency Mediator jcaronmsw@... 413.584.1821

Subject: Let's get dirty again for cleaner rivers this November! Hi Everyone! I hope you have all been well since we got dirty for cleaner rivers in September! As a few of us discussed at the end of the cleanup in September, this area can be tricky to get into when the brush is thick so we are hoping to get to a lot of trash once the brush dies back a bit. So, we have decided to schedule a late fall cleanup at the Northampton Meadows on November 22nd from 9-11am. Lost eyeglasses at the club
4
So sorry to trouble everyone with this email, but I have looked everywhere for my eyeglasses. They are in a blue soft case. I had them in my boat with me while I was rowing, and then did not have them when I got into my car to leave (I had my prescription sunglasses on). I checked the boathouse and I checked the dock. It's possible they fell into the water when I got out of my boat, but before I get my wetsuit and mask out, I wanted to see if anyone who rowed yesterday may have come across them. with my thanks, Nancy

Dear Yankee rowers, The Charles is behind us now. Thanks to all of you who offered so much encouragement and support during our daily training sessions. It was really encouraging to get off the water to your positive feedback. Thanks especially to Craig for the assistance he provided under challenging circumstances to keep us on the water when maintenance and repairs to the boat were needed. We are sure he was relieved to get the double back safe and sound after traveling to three regattas! Christina and Dave Christina Petersen 413-563-7900 Christina.petersen@... Virus-free.www.avg.com

NCR scrimmage tomorrow am.
2
Hi all. I am so so sorry for the late notice but wanted to let you know NCR is having a local scrimmage tomorrow from 8-11 am. We will be rowing a 3k course from the top of the island/ tip of Dike area to NCR or some version of this. There will be red buoys on the course and safety launches but I know this interferes with your plans for heading north. Let me know if you have any questions Sally Sally Linowski

YRC Boathousekeeping -- oars and towels
4
Yankee Rowers, There was a pair of Croker oars on the boathouse floor this a.m. (in the back next to the club Maas boat on the wheels on the floor) with no name or initials on them. The blades are very worn/faded. If the oars are staying in the boathouse, please find a rack for them (there are some spaces for members' oars on the wall on the left above the club Maas), and please put an identifying name for the oars on an index card by the rack. A week or two ago, someone took a number of the club towels from the boathouse (probably to wash them). Please return them to the boathouse. Thanks very much. Best, Ernie

Door Opener Works!
3
Hello everyone! We are happy to report that we now have a working remote for the garage door. It can be accessed in the lock box with the combination lock on the right side near the key pad. The combination to the box is 34-12-30. The remote should remind in the box at all times. Just push it to open the door and then lock the box up again. In order to close the door on your way out, you may use the button that is on the side of the door near the sign in desk. It is just slightly above the level of the desk and right along the edge of the opening. (The night side of opening when looking out of the boathouse.) The opener is wrapped in plastic to ensure it does not sustain any water damage in the event that rain gets in the lock box. Please let me know if you have any issues with opening g the door now or if you have any questions. Happy Rowing! Yankee Rowing -- Reminder: Club Boat Reservations
3
Yankee Rowers, Recently we've had some mix-ups regarding club boat reservations. Just a reminder: If you plan to use a club boat during one of the three early morning slots (the slot times change over time with the change in the sunrise; right now, the last slot starts at 9:30 a.m.), before rowing you need to reserve the boat on the Yankee Rowing online reservation sheet at one of the two links below. (Boats used after the listed morning time slots do not need to be reserved.) Please read and follow the reservation sheet instructions, and please make sure that you row in the boat that you've reserved (occasionally people who reserve one of the club boats--usually one of the four small Peinert boats--forget which boat they've reserved and take out another similar boat which someone else has reserved). Here are the reservation sheet links: https://tinyurl.com/yrcserve or https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xMuu9iZtBNKHAEC6Deg_xxiqU3YFr3zO06xX69SS5rg/edit?pli=1&gid=1131034294#gid=1131034294 Thanks very much.
