Yankee Rowing: College Crews & HampCrew Returning Soon
Yankee Rowers, The college crews and HampCrew will be returning to the river soon (in the next week or two).? At times, things are likely to get busy on or around the docks??at the Sports-man's Marina,?which we share with the Amherst College and Smith College crews, and the U/Mass women's crew. Please be considerate, patient, and flexible when using the?docks. And please be extra careful on the water, keeping an eye out for rowing shells and launches (and buoys) near and behind you.??Also, please stay on the appropriate side of the river: going upstream, stay toward the Hadley side of the river; and going down-stream, stay toward the Northampton/Hatfield side of the river.? Here are the fall practice schedules for the various local crews:? Amherst College:??Mon - Fri at 5:30 - 7:30 PM; and Sat at 8:30 - 11:00 AM Smith College:?With the full team: Mon - Thurs at 4:30?- 6:40 PM, and some Fridays at 6:00 - 8:00 AM, and Sat at 7:00 - 10:00 AM. And a few small boat sessions with 4-8 athletes in the morning: Mon - Thurs at 7:30 - 8:30 AM.? U/Mass Women:??Mon - Fri at 6:45 - 9: 00 AM, launching around 7:00 - 7:15 AM and landing around 8:45 AM; and?Sat launching around 7:15 - 7:30 AM and landing around 9:30 AM. U/Mass Men?(launching from the dock on the Northampton side of the river between the two bridges): ?Next week, starting Tues, 7/27, they will do double sessions on?Tues - Sat at 7:00 - 9:00 AM and at around 1:00 - 4:00 PM. After next week, they will resume normal practice times on Mon - Fri at ?6:00 - 9:00 AM; and Sat at 7:00 - 10:00 AM.? Northampton Community Rowing/HampCrew?(launching from their dock upstream, just before the turn in the river at the Honeypot): Mon - Sat at 5:30 - 7:30 AM; and Mon - Fri at 4:15 - 6:30 PM.? Thanks very much to the local coaches and crews for providing information regarding their practice times. Best, Ernie? |

Club Fluid Design repair for those who use the Mid Weight Flulid
To those who row the Fluid Design: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?The center? V strip below the foot-stretcher, into which the foot-stretcher locks down, was peened over, rounded over, so the whole ensemble would slip. I think the problem is fixed. I replaced the old nylon V strip, and replaced the small wing nut and bolt with which you locked down the assembly. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 1 Keep the gunnel bolts loose enough to position the stretcher to where it fits you. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 2 Then Tighten the lower Cylindrical Nut, and Sliding Track Bolt FIRST. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 3 After the lowest bolt is tight, then you can firm up the Gunnel attachments. By replacing the small wing nut with a tall Cylindrical nut, it will be easy to tighten now. Let me know if you have any problems. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Too all who don't use the Fluid, this will not make any sense. Craig |
Re: Thank you, Jonathan and everyone at the self-rescue clinic!
开云体育It was fun and inspiring to be together. With thanks to Brenda who got us organized to do this and to Ernie who worked the dock so effectively? The key lesson is to normalize the uhoh moments and be able to move through them because s**t happens even on the water? On Aug 17, 2024, at 12:15?PM, Ernie Alleva <elaCS@...> wrote:

We have had our introductory sessions and will probably take a fun row or two together as well. ? Please welcome Spencer! ? Cheers, ? J |
