Dual instance of fldigi problem
I need two different instances of FLDIGI.? I installed each into different Directories with their shortcuts into different folders.? I went to my ham install and setup some basic info and everything looked right.?? After closing that program down, I then went into the other Directory install via it's shortcut and noticed that it's config file is the same when bringing up the program.? I verified that each was in their own directory and shortcut pointed to each.? What else do I need to edit to keep each separated in it's own directory ?

So you can TX w WSJT=X? Well, that takes care of the permissions, I guess.
Do they both use the same COM port? I assume the COM port is defined by the 7300. Does WSJT find it?
Do you go straight to the 7300 or use an audio interface?
I assume you are using WSJTX with the same cabling?
I've not used a 7300 at all, but I did a quick check on the web. Both apps seem easy to set up on the 7300.
There are two pieces to the puzzle: is there an output audio stream, and is the 7300 commanded to TX?

Yes you do :-)
Audio devices for input fall into the category of mics, so once installed, whether in use or not, {my understanding is that} the mic needs to be given permission to be in use. Not sure of this, because I have cameras and mics in every laptop.

I have had the situation on W10, W11 where fldigi would not display the port, and when I typed it, it all worked. AFAIK, the ports were not in use by any app at the time, the installed audio hardware being dedicated to fldigi.

tonight (my fldigi.files directory was from version 4.2.05.24)
and I noticed that a few of the colors were changed back to
the default settings, and also that TxID and Video ID were not

Everything else seemed to carry over from the previous
version, at least the things that I can remember that I
changed from the defaults - other RsID settings, Modem
settings, PSK Reporter, Save Parameters, Sweet Spot,
Operator-Station, Rig Control, Soundcard, UI and Waterfall.

I made a copy of fldigi.files before making any config
changes, in case you want to see any files from there.

Neither flrig nor fldigi will
enumerate a serial port that is already in use.? A port in use
will not be accessible for open or read/write.

Hello, I made a test using the same configuration and machine, but this time, decoding RTTY all day long (18 h). A miracle: the software doesn't stop, thus it must be the FAX image decoding mode.

I had asked this question before, but once more:
1. During the 2 hours before it stops, are all images correctly received and saved (incl. the very last received one)?
2. Does it stop in mid-image or during another phase?
3. When FLdigi stops, is the software completely locked (e.g. no more waterfall updates), or is just the image decoding stopped (and other modes still work)?
4. When FLdigi is stopped (e.g. via the Windows Task Manager), and restarted, does everything work again (for 2 more hours)? Or what happens then?

W10 and W11 have been increasing their privacy rules for the past few years. So I have the following comments.
1. I never install for supervisor (admin) privileges.
2. I always install for single user, not everyone.
3. (Personally, I never 'install' fldigi. I always use the portable version. Much easier to manage.)
4. It sorta seems that this might be a privacy setting. I always leave mic and camera turned off when I am not specifically using them, and privacy geek that I am, I also leave my camera covered when not in use. But to the point, if fldigi is running, but not accessing the audio stream, then I suspect a privacy setting. Usually fldigi complains if it can't find the audio path, and setting the mic off disables that somehow.

This is rather strange. I have Fldigi working logged in as admin on windows 11. It is version 4.2.06 and an ICOM 7300. Using the same configuration as a standard nonadmin user PTT does not work. If I click on tune nothing happens but if I am logged in as admin tune works fine. I did have a problem during the install as COM4 did not appear on the list but I entered manually and then it worked. I have tried rebooting and restarting the radio but it is 100% reproducible that I can not get it working other than as admin. I was also wondering where does the configuration get stored?

Manually type in the required com port.? FLDIGI does not seem to detect the available com ports.
I have an ICOM 7300 connected via USB and installed Fldigi 4.2.06 on windows 11. It only finds COM1 which does not exist. My Com port is COM4 and it works fine with other applications (Flrig, WSJTX). It is an Acer laptop and has no other Com ports.? I have rebooted and checked COM port properties, there is nothing unusual. I also checked hidden devices and there is no COM1 port there
