Re: fldigi 4.2.06.07 posted at
Dave,
?
I installed fldigi-4.2.06.07_setup.exe on Windows 10 tonight (my fldigi.files directory was from version 4.2.05.24) and I noticed that a few of the colors were changed back to the default settings, and also that TxID and Video ID were not working. See below.
?
Earlier today I compiled 4.2.06.07 on Linux Mint 22 and did not have these same issues with the colors defaulting, but I did not do a 'make install' I just copied the new binary to /usr/local/bin manually. I didn't think to check TxID or Video ID.
?
-----
?
Frequency Display - BG Color and Digit Color were changed back to the default; Font and Font size were not changed.
?
S-meter - BG Color and Scale Color were changed back to the default; unsure about Meter Color, I don't think I normally change that from the default.
?
PWR-Meter - same as S-meter
?
Receive Text - RX bkgnd color and Rx font color were changed back to the default; Font and Font size were not changed.
?
Transmit Text - same as Receive Text
?
TxID - SCAMP modes (I tried all six) are not sending TxID tones when the TxID button is enabled, nor when turning it on/off via a macro.?
?
? <TXRSID:on><TX>
? CQ CQ CQ de <MYCALL> <MYCALL> <MYCALL> CQ? ? <RX><@TXRSID:off> ?
I verified that all of the SCAMP modes are enabled in the Config -> IDs -> RsID -> Transmit modes dialog.
?
Video ID - also not working with SCAMP (I tried 2 or 3 modes); all SCAMP modes are enabled in the Video ID Modes dialog.
?
I verified that TxID and Video ID are working with THOR11 to confirm that I had the settings correct.
?
-----
?
Everything else seemed to carry over from the previous version, at least the things that I can remember that I changed from the defaults - other RsID settings, Modem settings, PSK Reporter, Save Parameters, Sweet Spot, Operator-Station, Rig Control, Soundcard, UI and Waterfall.
?
I made a copy of fldigi.files before making any config changes, in case you want to see any files from there.
?
Cheers,

Re: RxID Narrow Versus Wide
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFelix,This ¡°change¡± (if there was one) was likely documented in an updates note when it was introduced and has not made the help files. Not at the computer just now but IIRC: You should be able to right mouse click on the RxID indicator at the top of the receive pane and select the RxID mode you want, then select save settings from the menu and it will always start in the mode you want by default - off, ?narrow, or wide. I prefer the narrow mode for net specific use and use the wide mode only for times I am looking for a potential QSO or trying to ID a signal I don¡¯t readily recognize. Mostly I keep it off.? Since you have been using fldigi a while you already know that both modes are useful. The colors (and the narrow band bars) tell you which part of the audio band fldigi listens to for RxID mode reports. You can use setting in the menu (misc tab I think) to tell fldigi whether to jump to a TxID signal or just report it on the receive pane. Hope that helps. RxID Narrow Versus Wide
Using Fldigi version 4.2.06.
?
I have been using Fldigi for quite a while. I always use RxID and it is always green. However, all of a sudden the RxID is now maroon. I checked the colors menu and found there is a RxID narrow button that is green and a RxID wide button that is maroon. Why did RxID on the main screen start turning on in the wide mode? I don't know the difference between the narrow and wide modes. I read the help file and it says nothing about this issue. Tnx for the help!

Assuming you are using WIndows Defender, try this: first go to SETTINGS, then click on UPDATE AND SECURITY, then WINDOWS SECURITY, then VIRUS AND THREAT PROTECTION, then FIREWALL AND NETWORK PROTECTION, then, down low on that page, "Allow an app through firewall", On the page that opens, click on "CHANGE SETTINGS", then ALLOW ANOTHER APP.and follow the remaining prompts. Ordinarily, when this occures in MY systems, I get a BLUE background which contains different wording than you are seeing with your yellowish background. Perhaps your antivirus is giving you that warning, and not anything within Windows' security settings. If that is the case, you will have to ignore ALL I have said above, and go into the settings of your antivirus program and add an "Allowed App". at the bottom of the message from defender, try clicking on the "don't run" button and it may allow you to run the program.? I get that sometimes on new versions of programs and I trust my Norton to do a better job than windows

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes. That is a very common issue but is what we call a "false positive". To fix it you, or someone more familiar with this issue, will have to "tell" Windows Defender to allow it to proceed. I think this is a problem with FLDigi and not Log4OM.

I just tested and Log4OM is allowing TCP connections on port 7362 but FLDigi is not attempting to connect to it or any other of the services in that tab. Mike W9MDB On Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:04:23 AM CST, Steve K4RVA via groups.io <k4rva@...> wrote:

Re: Fldigi and Win11 - final results
Testing reveals that in the Acer Aspire 3 laptop which has been the subject device, the USB
ports are miswired, or perhaps this is an "alternate" wiring. The USB-A ports have three horizontal "pins" 1, 2, 3, and 4. Pins 1 (+) and 4 (-) are the 5 VDC source. Pins 2 and 3 are data pins. The usual wiring is Data + on pin 2 and Data - on pin 3. In this Acer Apire 3 laptop, those data pins are wired reversed, Data - is on Pin 2 and Data + is on pin 3. For most applications, this will not make any difference: a wireless mouse and my USB CD drive work perfectly. However, this does NOT work correctly with our digital intefaces: audio inputs/outputs will be reversed and will not appear correctly in Windows' audio applications. For our digital interfaces, the solution is simple: simply reverse the normal connections to MIC and SPKR in the digital interfaces connection poirt, when you can. However, then you probably should mark the digital interface so modified so that if it should be connected to a "normal' USB port, you will have to re-reverse the MIC and SPKR connections. Re: Fldigi and Win11 audio tricks
FYI, I see that you posted this is possibly a hardware issue because the problem also occurs under Win10, but I wanted to add a note for Win11 users. Win11 does not handle audio the same way as Win10. It is *not* sufficient simply to configure the audio devices in the fldigi app and expect it to work correctly.? There are application-specific audio settings in the Windows 11 sound settings control panel that must be set properly. In Win10 all you have to do is select the sound devices inside fldigi (or js8call, wsjt-x, etc.) and off you go. That does *not* work in Windows 11.? I've detailed the settings approach that I had to use to get fldigi working correctly in Win11 in another thread, so my main point here is that you can't just post a screen shot of the fldigi audio config and expect that to mean anything for Windows 11. Windows 11 itself may be rerouting the audio elsewhere, regardless of what setting you make in the fldigi audio config panel. 73 de AE4ON On Sun, Nov 10, 2024, 2:20?PM Kenneth G.
