LA-1K Trips to Standby in SSB mode only

Thomas NE7X All Messages By This Member #924 My LA-1K keeps tripping to stand-by when I drive it on SSB. On CW, RTTY or FM/AM, I can key the amp with 60-80 watts drive and get full 1200 watts carrier out, no issue. Keys/Unkeys/ no issue. However, when I operate SSB, if I drive it with more than 20-25 watts, the amp goes into standby. With only 20 watts drive I only get about 700-750 watts PEP output. I tried adjusting the ALC, does not seem to make any difference what ALC setting I have. Any suggestions when might be going on? NE7X...
W1SWL All Messages By This Member #927 What band are you tripping out on? What is the SWR on the band? When you are using low power, what is the reflected power coming back? Are you using an antenna tuner? If using an antenna tuner, the one in the rig or and external tuner on the antenna side of the LA-1K? What kind of coax are you using? Have varmints attacked the coax? ?Very common issue BTW, Are all of your PL259 connections good? Has this tripping out situation just started or has it been since day one? Barry All Messages By This Member #931 开云体育 I had tripping issues. All I can tell you is Don’t drive the amp more than 45w. 50max and not more than 1000w output. ? What is the SWR? What band does it do it on? Check your Coax ends to the band its doing it on. Replace or resolder the Coax ends and DO THEM PROPERLY. (eg: don’t knick them or introduce possible short during high power) Same thing with your antenna. ? This is all I got. Thomas NE7X All Messages By This Member #933 SWR is 1:1., using Palstar HF-auto tuner. Only noticed it on 20 meters. Does not trip to standby on other modes, on SSB I replaced jumper coax between IC-7610, LA-1K and HF-auto It's on voice peaks is when the amp trips out. If I cut the mic audio back, it does not happen, however the amp puts out lower RF power. I tried adjusting ALC on both the IC-7610 and LA-1K, there is no noticeable difference no matter what ALC setting I use. NE7X...

Barry K4OCS All Messages By This Member #936 开云体育 I had similar problems two years ago talked with Mark at Palstar he had me put it into a dummy load everything worked normal the next day I replace my alpha DX plus antenna and today I use a hex beam for the higher frequencies and I use a double bazooka for 40 and 80.
