LA-1K Wish

I do wish that my LA-1K had a CAT control so that from my PC I could put the LA-1K into STANDBY from OPERATE and then into OPERATE from STANDBY.
As it stands now, to do the two commands, I have to perform this manually.
For instance, this is important when sending tuning carrier to the Palstar HF-AUTO in FM/CW mode.
This lack of integration between the HF-Auto and the LA-1K is the only thing that seems to have been missed.

Have any of you been able to some how perform going into Standby via CAT control or some other means?
Perhaps I have missed something…?
I am using either WIN4YAESU or Ham Radio Deluxe Rig Control to do the CAT…. But these two softwares are NOT aware of the HF-Auto or LA-1K.
I also have the optional 3rd party HF-AUTO software by Terry which I find personally overly complex to configure with my antennas so I tend to not use it any longer.

Thanks 73 Art W1SWL

++++++++++++++++++++++1, then I could put the noisy “vacuum cleaner” in the corner of the room and wouldn’t be bothered by it too much ?.

Hi Art

There is a CAT interface from the DB9 on the back. ? Here is a picture of mine developed with “Node Red”.? For more information check out the YouTube video Zoom Presentation from Front Range 6 Meter group on Node Red.

Using a Windows 10 machine i7.

Paul and Claus, thank you so much for the information on NodeRed an the LA-1K integration flow.
I have been reading that user group for quite some time.
As a former programmer, I can get ‘er done.
Must you have a Raspberry Pi in the mix somewhere for NodeRed?

Hi Art

No raspberry pi or such.? Just a Windows 10 machine 64 bit but should work on any Windows 10 desktop or laptop.

Good luck.

Just got an HF-Auto and will be getting a node red solution for it.? I run everything remote so I always need the latest telemetry from the devices.

Oh wow great! ?I too have the LA-1K and HF-Auto with a Yaesu FTdx101MP.
Let me know when you get that working.

Here are my thoughts on the integration of the two devices and the Transceiver (in my case the Yaesu FTdx101MP
But it could be any transceiver…. (Best to keep the Transceiver as a module(s) with choice.

Note my transceiver and LA-1K have the serial cable which tells the LA-1K what band I have invoked on the FTdx101MP,
So the LA-1K auto-magically goes to the band BEFORE sending a carrier. ?This happens now…
The following is all done manually or thru WIN4YAESU software...

My wish is to have one button, when pushed….
—> FTdx101MP goes to FM mode for sending carrier
—> FTdx101MP audio gain reduced so FM noise is tolerable and does not hurt ears
—> FTdx101MP power out goes down to 25W
—> LA-1K goes to STANDBY
—> then I step on the PTT foot switch send carrier thru STANDBY LA-1K to HF-AUTO
—> HF-Auto finds/recalls tuning solution (this is a “normal” HF-Auto feature)
—> node red checks HF-AUTO’s solution SWR and insures < or equal to 1.5… if > 1.5 then error flashing etc...

Second function...
—> I push a button (if no error based on SWR solution) and FTdx101MP goes to USB or LSB from FM (based on band)
—> FTdx101MP audio gain increased to previous Audio level (or my choice via slider?)
—> FTdx101MP power out goes o 35W (Or my choice- Slider??)
—> LA-1K switched from STANDBY to OPERATE

So then if I step on the PTT switch I am sending ~500 ~700 watts to a tuned antenna in the correct mode.
Now…. THAT would be nice…. Really nice.

翱辫迟颈辞苍蝉….
HF-Auto has three antenna out ports, perhaps a choice button for which antenna to use, default is Antenna 1 or last used port.

Your thoughts…
