Re: Amplifier Relay Needed?
No need. I have a 7610 and LA-1K, direct connect of ALC and Send (7610) to
ALC and PTT respectively (LA-1K).

Chris . . .
Sounds to me like your dealer is wanting to make a sale!? (And more
power to him, ham stores need to succeed).
Assuming CW . . .
If you operate the LA-1K as directed in the manual, in

Re: Amplifier Relay Needed?
Palstar told me it was not necessary to use an amp relay between my LA-1K
and my Icom IC-7300. But also keep input power level between 30-50 watts.

Amplifier Relay Needed?
I have a new LA1K and i get different opinions on whether a Amp Relay (Ameritron ARB -704) is needed to be run between the Icom 7600 and my LA1K. I didn't think so but the dealer said it just adds

Re: Resolved - Curious LA-1K Shutdown Problem
That was the problem. Nice to have a simple fix. Changing brands of arrestor may be a solution, too. Some appear to me more sensitive than others.

Re: Resolved - Curious LA-1K Shutdown Problem
I have experienced the same problem at my station. 10-160 meter vertical, LMR600 coax, Morgan RF Systems M-300 coaxial arrestor, HF-Auto Tuner, LA-1K Amp. I had the most trouble when operation on 75

Re: Palstar AL1K
My LA-1K runs on 120 Vac with no problem, although I do have it plugged into
a different circuit from the rest of the station.
Some peaks on SSB may exceed 1000 watts, but usually are in the 850-900

Re: Palstar AL1K
Besides the fan noise, this amp is perfect :-)
Well protected, very fast to detect any issue.
Would love to have a FW update with low fan noise below 40 degres.
The HF Auto is by far the best tuner

Re: Palstar AL1K
You might even get 1kw out of it on some bands like 20m. If you can put it on its own circuit while you are running 110. The nice thing is the amp comes with a power cord for 120 and one for 220. It

Re: Palstar AL1K
Thank you for the tip on running at 110v. I my do that to get the basic setup running while waiting for the 240v line to come in. I'll just keep the power down some...

Re: Palstar AL1K
I ran mine on 120 for a while before I got 240. I know a ham that only runs it on 120 with a few limitations. You can have some fun with it until you get 240 if you want.

Palstar AL1K
Thanks for the ad. Picking up my AL1K from HRO next week.I have to wait for my electrician to bring a 240v line over to shack before going on line with it? It will mate with the Auto Tuner hopefully

Re: Amp bypass SWR 160M SSB only with LMR 400 COAX
I have an Alpha Antenna portable and he makes it very clear it will do wired things when using LMR 400. Could be a similar situation. I use LMR400 for everything else but it.

Dennis,
Thanks for the reply. Interesting things you bring up. I am running 1.07M which is the last firmware revision on the amp I have access to on the web site.

Re: Amp bypass SWR 160M SSB only with LMR 400 COAX
Alan,
Thanks for the thoughts. It seems more likely as your experience shows it is feed related. In my case the higher loss coax stops the issue. This amplifier is good at protecting itself from

Re: Amp bypass SWR 160M SSB only with LMR 400 COAX
Good Morning, One thing to keep in mind when operating on 160 with
short antennas. These antennas (if properly constructed) will have a
very hi Q. You'll note that if you move as little as 5khz

Hi Jerry

Amp bypass SWR 160M SSB only with LMR 400 COAX
This might be the strangest behavior of this amp I have heard of so far. I have a 257' EF wire with a 9 to 1 UNUN (grounded). My HF-AUTO tuner shows SWR 1.08 for example. Only in SSB as soon as I
