Re: 120/240V switch?
Sorry, this group.io thing here doesn't display Apple's picture file format.? So, I converted it to JPEG and reattaching it to show the voltage selector switch of my LA-1K (Serial Number: 38935, delivered on January 21, 2023) indicates "230V" instead of the "240V" as explicitly stated in the LA-1K "WARNING" materials "TO SWITCH BETWEEN 120V AND 240V" that accompany each shipment.

Re: 120/240V switch?
Ron,
Ok, so rather than using electricity provided by your local power company, you are powering your LA-1K with two (2) of your own generators -- main and backup units to achieve 242VAC and 239VAC, respectively. The Palstar "WARNING" thing, attached to your previous entry, says "TO SWITCH BETWEEN 120V AND 240V" but the voltage selector switch on my LA-1K says 230V instead, as shown in the pic attached to my entry here.? Maybe someone from Palstar corporate would kindly provide us the part number and name of the OEM of the current power supply for reference. Hey no April Fools.. my brand new LA-1K experienced a power on/off switch malfunction within the first 30 calendar days of use.? The power switch, deemed defective by Palstar, required remove and replace actions to return the LA-1K to fully serviceable condition.? Perfect example of infant mortality! Guess what.. talking about infant mortality, when I opened up my LA-1K to install the replacement power switch (shipped to me by Palstar) I couldn't believe seeing the overwhelming numbers of made-in-china (i.e. PRC) components inside my LA-1K.? So, the "MADE IN USA" label on the back of the LA-1K really doesn't mean much at all. Again, buyers beware!! 73, Ray KJ5MI |

Folks, It pays to read the entire thread … 1) in sumary, some units have a switch on the left side of the unit. This must be switched accordingly to whatever voltage you intend on running. And you must use the appropriate cord to fit your wall socket/power receptacle. If you neglect to do this and power up with the switch in the wrong setting, YOU WILL BE SORRY. 2) Some units DO NOT have said switch ( like mine ) And all that is required is to change the power cords.? No taps to change on the PS. ? Dave, KF?XQ? Happy owner of an LA-K and HF-AUTO. “Twins” On Fri, Mar 31, 2023 at 5:50 AM Olen Persons via <w4ezr=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: 120/240V switch?
Steve,
When was your LA-1K delivered to you brand new? My LA-1K, purchased brand new directly from Palstar, was delivered to me on January 21, 2023.? My current home station configuration with the LA-1K (Serial Number: 38935) can be seen on my QRZ page at Started out powering the LA-1K using my home wall outlet (just under 125VAC according to my Craftsman DVM) at proper power supply switch position same day I took possession of the thing.? After seeing some error messages (power supply related) on the LA-1K display, I consulted with Mark Ward (Palstar tech support) about them first thing the following week.? Mr. Ward advised me to ignore the power supply information in whole, as printed on Page 15 of the technical manual (hard copy) that came with my LA-1K shipment, since Palstar failed to update their LA-1K technical manual. So, having "read the manual front to back several times" as you did.. could have complicated your power supply issues since the manual in question is outdated, Steve! Bottom line:? Buyers beware!!! 73, Ray KJ5MI |
Re: I need help making the cable that connects the Yaesu FT DX-10 to the Palstar LA-1K Amplifier
Hi Jim!
Kidding about what?? If you are referring to the Palstar LA-1K not working...nope, not kidding.? After performing multiple tests with Palstar using over the phone testing, they now tell me the amplifier is not working. I just got back from Fed Ex.? We shiped it back to Palstar. If you are asking about kidding in regards to the various cable options, I just received another cable...this one is the 8 pin/RCA version that connects to the 8-pin tuner jack on the back of the FT DX-10, then to the RCA on the Palstar. The third option, the 10 pin din plug from the FT DX-10 linear jack to the RCA jack on the LA-1K is sold on Ebay, but the vendor just went on vacation and has indicated he will not sell or ship until he returns from his vacation. What an incredible and strange adventure this has been. Finally seeing light at the end of then long, long tunnel! How are you and what type of linear amplifier are you using? |
Re: 120/240V switch?
开云体育I have the auto switch power supply , but I would guess Palstar should probably placard the power cord and the side of the amplifier to prevent this kind of failure.?On Mar 28, 2023, at 11:06 AM, Steve <steveki0sx@...> wrote:

Re: Band data config for an Anan 7000 DLE MkII?
I replied, no I didn't. The RF detection worked well enough I left it alone. I run non-resonant antennas so I have to tune anyway, so I put the amp in standby, tune with 10-15W and then put the amp into oper and go. I also have an RFKit that uses TCI for CAT but it doesn't put the amp in standby to tune so the procedure I use is identical even with band switching run by CAT. I put the amp in standby, send a tune signal and then put it in operate. If you want to put the amp into standby when you hit tune, you will need an external utility, something like Node Red that will first send a command to put the amp in standby and then activate the rig to send a tun. You would use the external utility to tun, not the rig directly as it will have to put the amp in standby via a command first before the rig is triggered. Re: 120/240V switch?
I can assure you it is best to look for the switch!? I got one of the first to roll out with the new power supply. I had read the manual front to back several times while I awaited delivery.? When it camw in I tossed all the paperwork aside and proceeded to set it up.? The day I got it I did not have my 240V run in.? Powered it up on 120v and all was well. The next day I completed my 240v install, switched cords and powered up.? There was a loud boom and smoke.Needless to say my amp was on its way back for "not covered" repair.

Re: I need help making the cable that connects the Yaesu FT DX-10 to the Palstar LA-1K Amplifier
Quick update: Before sending it back, is there anything I could be missing here? What other tests could I do before shipping the LA-1K back to Palstar? Thanks,

Re: I need help making the cable that connects the Yaesu FT DX-10 to the Palstar LA-1K Amplifier
Yep, you’re correct there is no TX IN for the FTDX10.? It’s actually TX Out (Pin 2 - Yellow) to Amp key In (Pin 7 - Yellow) on the LA-1K.? In other words: FTDX10 output to LA-1K input. Only 6 pins are used: Blue wire from cable to Pin 1 of socket (Band data B) Red wire from cable to Pin 2 of socket (Band data A) Green wire from cable to Pin 6 of socket (Ground) Yellow wire from cable to Pin 7 of socket (Amp key input) Violet wire from cable to Pin 8 of socket (Band data D) Blue wire from cable to Pin 9 of socket (Band data C) Cable used: Yaesu SCU-28 Connector used: DB9 RS232 at: ? I did continuity tests on the connections and used solder not the screw-downs to connect the wires. This set up has worked perfectly with no problems at all. Hope this helps On Wed, Mar 22, 2023 at 9:27?PM David Campeau <davidc502@...> wrote: That's an awesome resource! I knew there was someone like yourself that |
