Blue LED (Curved Traces Fork)
Whilst browsing the plug-ins I found a curvy traces plug-in. I only looked at it briefly, but it seems you draw the traces as usual, and then fire up the plug in, which smooths the bends. Maybe not quite what you have in mind, but better than nothing. Regards, Robert.

PCB 3D 2
Hello This time it works. What is the method to write text on the 3D PCB? On the 555 IC? How to add colored circles to resistors? I also still have to trace the tracks But that should not be a problem. Thanks for your help Stanislas

Dragging differential pairs, push and shove
I am using KiCad 6. I can't drag diff pairs as a pair. Have seen this done in a YouTube video by Tom W. Also effects length tuning; meanders will not form if there's no room.

Can't move silkscreen markings and uploading to this group 7
Hi All, I have a small design which has hit a problem. With KiCAD 6.07 I can't move silkscreen layer text in the PCB editor. Never encountered this before, and loading up other boards does allow me to move the text. It's small so I could start again. Not tried earlier KiCADs but did try the Mac OS/PC windows versions and still the same. 2 questions - Anyone know anything that can cause just the silkscreen to lock? I can move parts. It would be nice to upload the files (40k) to this group so anyone can look, but is that still possible? Thanks, Rob.

DRC:no edges found on Edge.Cuts layer 7
This is a board with rounded corners, made from arcs and lines. The edge cuts shape is locked and I can¡¯t it unlock. Select all -> unlock does not work. DRC shows 3 arrows at random places. Can I ignore this error ? Any help appreciated. Axel --- PGP-Key: CDE74120 ? computing @ chaos claudius

v6 3D model location
I've noticed that there are a search path for 3D models in v6, yet all the components in the library has the KICAD6_3DMODEL_DIR prefix in the 3D model definition. I'm a little bit confused, as it would be practical to omit that, and just use a relative path, and KiCad would figure out where to look for 3D models. Or the search path is only used for 2nd party models? Thanks, -- Levente Kovacs Senior Electronic Engineer W: http://levente.logonex.eu

Text 7
G¡¯day, Jeff Miller here. I¡¯m making a small PWB with gnd plane on both sides using KICAD 5.1.9 Windows 10. I want text on the front side. I select TEXT and F.SilkS, write the text and all looks great. Then I switch to F.Cu and all the text is gone. I look at 3D Viewer and I see the text there. If I click don¡¯t show filled areas then I see the text I sent the board to OSHPARK, and the boards come back without text, but the component¡¯s, Q1, R1, etc are all there. I¡¯m not doing something right but I don¡¯t know what. Help please, thanks, jeff

KiCAd post, back on the list in case someone else might be able to help 9
Thanks for the welcome John, and yes the name does have an old echo of familiarity, but don't now recall the list. I did at one point inhabit the eagle list and used it a few times, but gave up on it and wrote my own gcode for the simple circuits I was using for encoders and such on my cnc machines. Thats not the only list of course as my interests are best described as varied. Now I have a gage sensor to mount, but can't find its footprint in the debian 11 repo's old kit. It doesn't seem to have a footprint directory, or perhaps KICAD has a different name for such? IDK. Its a Honeywell TBPLLLN015PCUCV. Surface mount, 7 mm square 6 contact pattern. So I'd imagine I have to build it from the tarball, but can't find the right round tuit. At my age, 87, its pretty easy to misslay it, and then can't remember where it is. I've about a 10mm sq. space to glue the pcb with the footprint cut into it. And a whole bunch of 603 series resistors and capcitors to mount on an eval board for an ADA4099-1 high voltage op-amp. The final target is regulating the air pressure to a mister on a heavily modified 6040 mill by pwm-ing the power to a bank of 5, small diapram compressors I can't even hear running over the other cooling fans in the mills electronics. Feed that from the 2hp shop compressor and what little hearing I have left would soon go away. Not to mention burning up that conpressor, it wasn't built to long tolerate a 50% duty cycle. Harbor Freight special. Nuff said. :o(> Take care & stay well John. Cheers, Gene Heskett. -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. via size versus track width 2
For my project with THT footprints, I have 3 net classes. What are best practices rules for dependency of clearance, track width, via size ? I attach my current settings. Axel --- PGP-Key: CDE74120 ? computing @ chaos claudius

[Newbie] No synchronization of layout with flat hierarchy 6
Hi all, I¡¯m doing my 1st KiCad project. I created a simple parent sheet and a schematic of a circuit which should be repeated 10 times on the board. Everything worked fine but it seems that I have to do the layout 10 times manually, which makes the hierarchical design useless. Is there (in 6.0.5) any possibility to derive the other 9 layouts from the 1st one or even better to keep them synchronized? I found this FAQ https://forum.kicad.info/t/hierarchical-sheets-tracing/30906 where I read, this feature will be in 7.0 and the plugin, which did this job, does no longer work. What is current best practice? Axel --- PGP-Key: CDE74120 ? computing @ chaos claudius

3d models 2
Does anyone know why some components lose their 3d model? I have a number of parts that have been imported from snapeda or ultralibrarian and some of them will keep the link to the 3d model while other ones need to have the 3d model link restored each time I open the project. All my 3d models are in the Kicad v6 3d model directory. I am obviously missing something. Tks Tony

Net names starting with a slash 5
What means the slash in /SDA ? There exists also a net called SDA. Are the slash variants related to the parent sheet of my flat hierarchy? Axel --- PGP-Key: CDE74120 ? computing @ chaos claudius

Starting with a freestanding track? 6
I have a linear arrangement (240mm long) for replicated circuits of the hierarchical daughter sheet. I want to draw 4 freestanding tracks (2 power and 2 signal) along the long edge and connect the replicated circuits with them. Usually I start a track at a pad, but how can I do it without a pad? I tried with free-standing vias, but had no luck. Axel --- PGP-Key: CDE74120 ? computing @ chaos claudius
