Thanks Dave/Ken for looking into it.
Sounds like good news.? I will report back of course when I have received and fitted the update to the SB3a.? My sensors are already created, with NS prefixes so, fingers crossed!
Kind regards,Harold.

Harold,

The only thing is you will have to create the sensors first for the AIU's to

Hello,
I'm having some difficulties after recently upgrading to 4.10 just after the new year.?
+ Computer make and model - HP Compaq 6220
+ Computer Operating System - Windows 7
+ JMRI version installed - 4.10
? + if you just upgraded, from which version - 4.9?(I think)
+ JAVA version installed - 1.8
+ Interface device (if any)
+ DCC system in use - Digitrax DCS50?
? ? ? (the specific model, not just the manufacturer)
+ Any other DCC devices in use - Soundtraxx PTB-100 / Locobuffer - USB 2.0
+ Com port in use (if any) - COM5??
+ Baud Rate settings (if known)
+ Specific details of your difficulty, including error messages if any.
?I am suddenly having issues with:
- Trying to read correct CV's and change CV's using my JMRI and power system (have been doing this successfully for 3 years now).??
- Could not?change sound levels or type of sound on?a new Soundtraxx?Sound Car decoder.? I use Programming Track.
- I noticed that the ON/OFF light on the JMRI screen showed "Unknown", and when I tried to change it,
?????????to "On" (green) or "Off (red) using my "power" on/off button on my throttle as it has always done in the past, it did not take it.? The light did not change ???????? and "Unknown" was still illuminated.??I had to move the curser to the box and then click to get ON or OFF.
- When I put a Soundtraxx decoder on the track and went to "Read New Loco", it read some other decoder that I had never heard of:? Massoth Elektronik, Gmbh????
- The Loconet "box" keeps popping up everytime I go into JMRI.? I have saved it each time, but it comes up again and keeps asking if I want to save it or deleate it.?

I have been reading some group remarks today about issues with the 4.10, yes?? Should I go to the next level...4.11, or?do I need to revert to an earlier version than 4.10???
Your assistance is most appreciated.

Locked Re: Problem with Sensor Table in 4.11.3

OK, since we are talking sensor tables again, I have a few questions for
those with knowledge of Team Digital BlocD8 sensors, although these
questions might refer to any sensor.

In Panel Pro, on the sensor Input page:

Is it common to keep the invert box checked or unchecked. I assume this
inverts the data coming from the sensor, so would typically remained
unchecked. So an unchecked box would result in a sensor output of 1 when
the block is occupied and 0 if the invert box is checked.

If you have no Secondary Address, is 0 the right entry? And the other boxes
are of no consequence?

On the Outputs page, I think I understand assigning C or T and the sensor
hi and lo, an occupied block would yield a hi if set to C and a lo if set
to T, but how does this relate to the invert box above? For example if
sensor 1 is set to invert, does this also invert the state, making C lo and
T hi?

Finally, on the Options page, there is a box regarding giving a response on
a Digitrax interrogation. What does this mean?

Thanks,

Jerry Michels

If you cannot throw turnouts from JMRI that tells you to concentrate on making JMRI work. EngineDriver certainly won¡¯t be able to throw turnouts if JMRI can¡¯t do it. Try some basic JMRI checks first:

* Look at Edit=>Preferences=>Defaults and confirm that every column is set to Loconet.

* Can you turn layout power on/off from JMRI using Tools=>Power Control? If not, look at

Help=>System Console and see if there are any errors reported.

etc

I can confirm that as of right now we cannot throw turnouts from the JMRI turnouts table. Only from the digitrax throttles.

Sounds good. Here¡¯s a suggestion for things to try in order when you get there:

Confirm that you can throw a turnout from JMRI. You can do this from the Turnout Table or using the Turnout tool. If you cannot throw a turnout from JMRI then there is no need to mess around with Engine Driver. We have to get JMRI working first.

If you can throw a turnout from JMRI, try it from Engine Driver with the Monitor Loconet window open. This will confirm whether or not JMRI is issuing the turnout command in response to Engine Driver.

From there we can narrow it down some more. Good luck with the testing!

Sorry if this has been suggested already, but in JMRI=>Preferences=>Withrottle under ¡°Allowed Controls¡± is the Turnouts box checked? If not check that box, save the prefs and restart JMRI.

The turnouts that you wish to control via Engine Driver must already be in your Turnout Table. So if you try to control LT13 from Engine Driver and there is no entry in your Turnout Table for LT13 that it will not work. HTH.

One other test is the turnout from a real throttle on the native system

(bypass JMRI completely). If that doesn't work, JMRI won't be able to

either. I don't recall which vendor your system is: NCE, LocoNet, etc.............

If the turnouts are not working from the JMRI tables, there is a connection

or configuration issue. So if the throttle are working, from JMRI or via the

phones, you have a connection. Then it becomes configuration issues. One

spot to check is the 'Preferences->Defaults' tab. Make sure selections are

point to the system and not Internal.

Next is open and watch the Help->System Console, it may be displaying error

when you try to operate the turnouts. This will give us more clues.

At a guess you initially bound the socket before you opened it. You closed
the socket but never unbound it so it is still "attached" to the original
instance when you try to open it again. Try an unbind command to see if it
frees it up.

I open a socket using the following code:

start_new_thread(Simulator.links,('East',Simulator.sim2EastPort))

def links(name,port):

Simulator.log( name+' handle')
Simulator.log( 'port:'+str(port))

if Simulator.interlocking == 'West':
host = Simulator.westIp
else:
host = Simulator.eastIp
s = socket.socket()
s.bind((host,port))

Simulator.log( name+' RX Server Started')

while Simulator.closePort != name:
try:
s.listen(1)
Simulator.log( name+' RX listening')
except:
Simulator.log( name+' RX failed')
pass

c, addr = s.accept()
Simulator.log( name+' RX Connection from: '+str(addr))
while True and Simulator.closePort != name :

data = c.recv(2048)
if not data:
break
try:

if data[-1] == '4':
InstanceManager.sensorManagerInstance().getSensor(data[:-1]).setKnownState(Sensor.INACTIVE)
if data[-1] == '2':
InstanceManager.sensorManagerInstance().getSensor(data[:-1]).setKnownState(Sensor.ACTIVE)
except:
Simulator.log( 'failed to find sensor:'+data[:-1])
c.close()

s.close()
Simulator.log( name+' RX closed port')
if Simulator.closePort != name:
return 1
else:
Simulator.closePort = None
return 0

links = SPSstaticMethod(links)

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Locked Problem with Sensor Table in 4.11.3

Hi,

I just upgraded from test release 4.11.2 to 4.11.3 and I find I cannot now change the state of any sensors from inside the sensor table. Clicking on the button has no effect. I have reverted to 4.11.2 and it works perfectly.

Roberto

Hi, there are no specific time frames for this. When each language is done we can release it. If it is never finished, that language won't be released.

As mentioned, we will be grateful of any assistance.

Can you contact me directly at the email address below and I can work through the process with you. (I am not sure I can see your email address)

Locked Re: JMRI Throttle Problems

Mike and John,

JMRI 4.10 has known problems in acquiring and releasing LocoNet throttles.
This includes acquisition via WiThrottleServer.

JMRI version 4.11.3 included some SIGNIFICANT improvements to JMRI
acquisition of LocoNet throttles.

Please try JMRI 4.11.3. I have not noticed any reports of LocoNet throttle
acquisition/release problems with JMRI 4.11.3.

If you continue to have problems acquiring and releasing throttles with JMRI
4.11.3, please report those problems here.

Harold,

The only thing is you will have to create the sensors first for the AIU's to
be seen.

Dave,

My understand of the command station cycle is it polls all cab addresses
either fast (ones it has got responses before) and those that didn't respond
(infrequent to see something get added). So it will have read the AIU. What
I don't see in the memory of the system is the extra mapping of how it knows
a bit has changed or not. So I suspect that isn't in the USB memory space
and why the other command, but that is a guess.

Key is we get AIU with the USB and it seems to work.

Hi,
You won't need to know anything about programming. Yes, all the text that
needs to be translated is in a spreadsheet.

It is just a commitment of time.

There are over 500 short phrases and sentences that need to be
translated,. Then the volunteers would need to test the new text by running
Engine Driver thoroughly and send screen shots of any problems, along with
the corrections, to me.
We would also need them occasionally help translate when new features are
added.

As I said... A commitment of time.

If you are still up for the challenge after hearing that, we would welcome
your assistance.

My guess is that the 0x8A command uses the CS Memory Block to compare/store the last polled state for the AIU, hence populating the last two bytes.

It's possible the Power CS does actually poll all known AIUs at the cab bus level and update the memory block. It probably also plays a part in AIU Broadcast mode (which we don't use).

Locked Re: Operations: Creating a passenger train questions

Well I figured it out. I had defined the cars as 'passenger' in the drop down menu under the cars menu but I had not checked the box underneath the drop down which has a list of passenger, caboose, FRED, utility, etc.

Checking the passenger box fixed the problem.
