Re: Panel Frustration...Individual panels don't open
Frank, You may be running into a resource issue. ?With 9 panels and lots of icons on each panel, JMRI has to load thousands of files. When I tried loading on my Mac, I was getting "too many open files" errors. ?Since I have lots of other apps running, I was running into the default OS limit. ?Once I closed the other apps, I was able to load the xml file without errors (after removing the bad SSL definition). During the loading process, JMRI opens over 4000 files. ?After the loading is done, the number of open files drops to about 600. ? The lack of error messages on the JMRI system console implies that you are not running into the open file limit, but you may be running into a different limit that is not detected. You might try loading after rebooting with no other applications loaded. ?Since you are on Windows, also watch the task manager. Dave Sand |

Mike, Dave,
I too am working on a CTC panel and I am also looking for the same thing.? Bob Bucklew provided me with a LOT of help on several issues. One thing I had thought about was to use LOGIX to control a hidden internal sensor to control a virtual signal. Add the delay to the sensor, which would in turn delay the signal. Make the real signal follow the virtual signal and the delay should be provided. The thought came to me when Bob and I were setting up virtual signals to provide logic to real signals controlled by "planned" signals that were not in place yet. We were also looking for logic to prevent cornfield meets in interlockings. Virtual signals were used and they worked. I am totally new at LOGIX and I am amazed when something I do actually works. Re: Roster media?
#rosterimage
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýKen I pretty much work with JPG. And in this case I was using all JPG images. I haven¡¯t down sized them to the recommended size yet. This will be my next step. I am very doubtful as the images I took from the were the correct size. I may just try again after the next update. The re load may just fix it. I don¡¯t want to chance that right now as everything is working beautifully for me now. I am still very much in the learning curve. This is one Hell of A piece of software! Re: LocoNet signals - both turnouts always thrown - bug or feature?
Scott,
Keep in mind that it is only the last change of the two turnouts that matter. It isn't a setting of both, just which one did which last. If you aren't using the right signal type in JMRI, it will confuse it. So only one of the two turnouts should change at any given time. If both are being changed, that would be wrong. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.org www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Problem running a list of scripts (Jython)
#scripting
I building a number of scripts to set the signals. Each script represents one Signal Mast. I want to run a script to invoke all the masts. When I run the script with the list of scripts, it fails, indicating that it expects an EOF in one of the subscripts. The sub-scripts are all of the same form (defining a class based on Siglet, and then starting it). All the scripts in the list are valid and running properly when invoked from the Script Entry window or the Run Script menu item. The basic form of the script exection is:?
import java
import java.beans
import jmri
?
execfile(jmri.util.FileUtil.getExternalFilename("scripts:Mast001.py"))
execfile(jmri.util.FileUtil.getExternalFilename("scripts:Mast002.py"))
and so on. It seems to fail after a certain number of scripts are invoked. Should there be additional code in the Siglet script (perhaps a return?).I have upload the list of scripts ("Mast_List.py") and two of the scripts to "Problems being worked" folder "Scott_Walton". Any thoughts on what I might be doning wrong? Scott Walton |

LocoNet signals - both turnouts always thrown - bug or feature?

I have checked the SE8C documentation and it clearly states that you should be throw one or the other (not both). Since I don't have actual SE8C, I can't verify how the real hardware works, but this seems contrary to the way the documentation says it's supposed to be. Is the a bug? A feature? Has anyone gotten an SE8C to respond correctly? Or is this a bug in the RR-CirKits board? Scott Walton |

Re: Panel Frustration...Individual panels don't open
Frank,
When I opened your file 9 panels came up . Bakersfield South and North End took a while to display after clicking on the panel again. This makes me think a lot of memory is being used. That's why I said a lot is going on. It seems that its taking a lot of processor power to paint the screen. My main objective was to let you know that the panels are there and that I can see them. Part of your frustration can be alleviated knowing that the xml files structure is basically ok. I know the difficulties and how labor intensive "been there done that" hence me chiming in.? Error wise I see that LH479 is not defined in your SSL. It has no assignments. That could be why its hanging up.? Know that your panels are displaying all 9 of them. Here is the file with Mountain and Valley removed. /g/jmriusers/files/CPRX%20Panel%202017_v2.xml It loaded a lot faster without them..... Inobu He ? ? |

1. ?Powered up my DCS240 - I have it come up track power OFF 2. ?connected the program track to a decoder 3. ?new loco, read type, open comprehensive programmer - all of which worked exactly as expected. I hadn't sent a single programming command from the decoder-specific entry. In the entire session, the only commands that were sent were the read type from decoder actions. ? Thanks, all. My workaround thinking was in fact using a virtual sensor as a scratch intermediary, so I appreciate the confirmation.
Egbert, yes, I'm with you on the mast delay. I take it you proposed it as a per-action item and not a mast constant. For instance, any set of conditions that result in a "Stop" should propagate to the mast immediately, it's the communication of any aspect permitting movement that needs a "dust settles" delay. Like the 1:1. At minimum, however, since "delay=" is already valid in the XML for a mast action, why not use it? ? ...mike |

Re: Digitrax programming and Track Power On (was JMRI 4.18 is available for download)
I don't think this is Digitrax specific.
I recently updated a Raspberry-Pi with the 4.18.1 code, and was perplexed with behavior of a locomotive on the programming track using 'Comprehensive'.? The decoder was outputting sound, while the loco puttered along the track in the normal "ack" movement pulse.? Once the page was read, all went quiet.? This is a R-Pi/Pi-Sprog combination. I don't recall the loco, it may have been an Atlas/Loksound model.? I'll try to reproduce this later today. Tim B. |

Hello Mike, Since you're using Logix I thought I'd share how I implemented this.? All my systems are configured in Logix and I don't use Signal Mast Logic.? If I can attach the images you'll be able to see how this is done.? The first image is the Edit Conditional screen while the second image is the Edit Action screen.? If the images get stripped I'll reply to you directly.? Hope this helps. Cheers, Dennis Drury Dayton, NV The miracle is this: the more we share the more we have. Re: Panel Frustration...Individual panels don't open
Dave Sand...no errors, other than the new panels don't open.
Inobu...no clue how to do what you suggest.? Addressing your comment of a lot going on.? There was a main panel with three levels of tracks to get everything in.? It all worked and continues to work fine.? Recently I learned I could copy sections of this into a new panel.? I'm doing that because, as you may recall, issues with the two monitors having different resolutions.? Anyway, I created the Mountain Div and the Valley Div.? Last weekend I started putting in the turnouts and they worked fine.? You may notice, although there is no track in most of those two panels, the sensors work as do the new turnouts I installed.? The reason there is no track there, long story short, the tri-level panel a friend built was working, however, when transferred to a new computer, all the track icons he created in MS Paint disappeared from the panel.? So, now I am taking that old tri-level panel and adding JMRI icons to reconstruct it and then separate sections so everything can be used on the monitors.? I hope all that makes sense.? Even though there appears to be a lot going on, the old panels work, except the issue with the new Mountain panel and the Valley panel.? Those two don't show the visuals, although you can see the blank panels. Not sure why, perhaps it was something in the save function.? I can't even delete the Mountain or Valley panels!? It would be nice to be able to delete them.? I can always cut and paste those sections and start over entering JMRI track icons.? The sensors are already there and work, from the original tri-level panel. Thanks guys... -- Frank Kenny
