Locked Re: Help with DS64's and JMRI

Hello Guys,
?
I am new to this and new to this group as well. Was not sure if I am supposed to create a new thread or what, so am taking the liberty of posting it here.
?
4¡¯ x 8¡¯ N scale, Kato Unitrack layout. JMRI 4.18, SPROG 3. No LocoNet, DS64 is powered through Track
?
Four of the turnouts are controlled via a Digitrax DS64 and these I am able to switch these individually with Decoder Pro turnout control. Now am attempting to connect Digitrax BD4 to provide input to DS64 for switching.?
?
Am stuck at the basic step of changing DS4 OpSw options. Digitrax Support informed me that OpSw 12 needs to be changed to CLOSED for the DS64 to accept sensor input on A1. When I attempt to write the changed? CV for OpSw 12 via Decoder Pro program option, it throws the following exception:
?
Exception during CV write: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: ¡°115:12¡±
?
I did try to go through some of the posts in the forum on this topic but don¡¯t seem to understand how to proceed.
?
Thanks
EsK

Nope, sounded great, but no amount of combinations have yielded success at this point. I know it have probably worked for everybody else but it is not working for me. I am posting a screen shot so maybe a clue will present itself. Thanks for the path!

Terry,

You do not put icons in the boxes, you select a turnout from the list in the lower part of the window and drag turnout names to the boxes.

Dave I will try this again, but for some reason I do not get the drop even when over the box. I have the scissor selected with 4 turnouts so four boxes.? The boxes will not, or have not accepted any of the icons that I have tried to put in them. No other multiple icon selection such as turnouts? closed, thrown, inconsistent or unknown come up with undefined in their boxes. I am burned out for tonight and will try again in the morning. Terry,

I assume you are talking about the Panel Editor.

?

When you select "Slip/3 Way Turnout/Scissor" the dialog present a number of options.

?

To create a double cross-over, select the "Scissor Crossing" radio button. ?This will display a choice for 4 Turnouts or 2 Turnouts. ?Below that will be either 4 boxes or 2 boxes depending on your choice. ?Panel Editor does not have a choice for 1 turnout.

?

The next step is to "drag and drop" 2 or 4 turnouts from the turnout list to the "undefined" boxes. ?Once the "undefined" boxes have turnout names, click on Add to Panel. ?The double cross-over will be in the upper left corner.

Thanks David--just tried this and it works.

In Anyrail, go to File/Export as/JMRI layout file. Creates two files, one is an XML and the other is a graphic in jpg format.

Open Panels works just fine with the XML, though I got plenty of error messages because I haven't done the other spadework to create turnouts etc. You can Ignore Errors in Panelpro just to see what happens.

I'll be having a closer look at doing it properly later on, but it sure beats assembling it all manually at first glance.

Locked Help Setting up JMRI & NCE Power Cab Via USB

Thomas Greis

New to the group with some typical set up questions I need help with:
I have set up all the hardware and software according to the various written directions,? but the program will not function correctly for me.? I'll try to keep this concise describing the hardware and the error message:
1. Window 10 system and a USB connection to the Power Cab
2. NCE USB interface board, latest JMRI version,? JAVA and USB drivers ( from NCE website ) downloaded per the instructions
3. NCE power Cab system with single programming track that is known to be functional
4. Proper A to B USB & coiled NCE 4 lead cables in place

Error Message:? program opens,? note on bottom of screen saying "NCE Programmer is online" in green letters. Within 10 seconds,? with no tabs opened or keystrokes made,? message on bottom goes red saying "NCE programmer is offline".

I have set up the USB connection per the instructions, selecting the correct equipment ( NCE Power Cab ) and choosing the USB connection.? Oddly,? the DecoderPro program seems to want to have "Com 4 " ticked in the box for the serial port.? It will give an error message exciting the program saying that "no serial port"? is not acceptable.

I believe that I have set everything exactly as directed by JMRI and NCE;? but the program does not seem to stay on line.? Suggestions on what might be my problem.

Thanking the group in advance,

Date: Monday, February 10, 2020 2:43 PM

If am having difficulty placing icon for double crossover on my panel. I found the icon (4 way) but the icon won't place to be added to the panel? Each of the boxes state undefined ??? I had no problem placing any of the other elements. What am I doing wrong or how do I define the object? Thanks in advance for any assistance here!

I am using a serial RS 232 connection at the powerhouse to a USB port on my computer. When I change from system connection to NCE USB I get the same problem, no serial port selected or?found thanks for the help, ?I think I¡¯m getting close with your instruction!?

You have your JMRI setup in it's NCE Simulator mode.? Set it up as NCE,? Serial? as connection type.

can anyone provide a method to access the user data attached to an ID tag within a script, I can find the one for the system name but not the user details

Can you be more specific about what you mean about user details?

Currently ID tags ( the DefaultIDTag object that is ) only explicitly stores the userID as a property. ?There is a list of key/value pairs storable by all named beans (IDTags are named beans ) which you can use to store additional data. ?The RailCom and Transponding Tag objects use these properties to store values.
