Mike,
I'm sure they will address it. Using File Manager reducing the time. If you have file manager open to JMRI. You can see the default print file of out.ps After you save the file (from the first print windows) you can open it and view it in File Manager and then print normally. . I just tested it out and its 4 more clicks. That better than nothing for the moment. Inobu |

It will use the alternative if it cannot allocate the primary for any reason. It will never unallocated another trains track, unless that train is terminated. Steve G |
I uncovered a minor problem with JMRI 4.18.? I upgraded from 4.16
successfully but have discovered a new bug.? This bug was not present in 4.16. While Decoder Pro on 4.18 works fine, I noticed today that if Track Power is off and I program an engine on the programming track, that Track Power turns on shortly after I write the changes to the decoder. The other interesting thing is that while I can control Track Power from Decoder Pro, after I write the changes to the decoder, if I use Decoder Pro to turn off the Track Power, it turns back on in somewhere between 30 and 90 seconds.? If I turn Track Power off with a DT 400, DT 402D or DT 500D throttle, it stays off unless I make another write to the decoder. I am using a Digitrax DCS210 command station with a Locobuffer USB to connect to the computer.? The computer is a Windows 10 laptop with all the latest fixes. David Witman |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTook new set of photos and still would not transfer. As mentioned by sizing maybe the issue, at least on these as the are about 2m.? but the stock photos are smaller than that and they don¡¯t transfer either, But this has been escalated to a challenge mode now! LOL, I will play around some more and will report! Thank you all for the input. Since I am in the minority I am certain it is something on this end. ? Terry Cummins S.E. Michigan ? P.S. If all you want print is a roster it¡¯s not much trouble to print to a file and then open the file and print it. However, I¡¯m using JMRI Operation Pro and it is quite a job to print manifests and switch lists for a dozen or more trains for an Op Session. I¡¯d really like to be able to print directly to a printer like I could on my old windows PC.
Thanks Mike |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAs ken has just mentioned file sizes may be playing into this.
From my camera I have reduced each photo to around 2mb. Rick. On 1/8/2020 3:59 PM, Richard Knight via

Re: Roster media?

A word of warning about the images in the roster. Don't leave the resolution
higher than needed. Most phones or cameras today take a much higher res picture than the little display in the throttle will be able to show. So I recommend downsizing the resolution of the photos so the file size is around 100k. It takes a lot more time for the computer etc... to move around and adjust a file that's 4M. Had a problem with one club that reimaged their whole fleet and the roster was over 4G of data. After I resized all the photos it was about 20M total. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.org www.syracusemodelrr.org |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI took a new set of photos of my actual engines and will try this approach any way. Sounded like a good idea so I ran with it.? I don¡¯t know that I have ever used a stock photo before so you question on that made perfect sense. I won¡¯t be able to get back to the set till later, but will let you know what happens! ? That is not what I am eluding too.? I also use stock photos from the net.
What I mean't was? were the photos downloaded by you? (Window User).. If the file in question is under a different "USER"? ( folder wise )? it might not permit cut and paste of it. On my Win10 Systems, I am the only USER, and I have ADMIN rights. Did you setup JMRI for only you or for ALL Users when you did the install. The only time I had media Cut & Paste issues was with a specific JMRI version and that was corrected in a follow up version. Marc |

Re: Alternative Sections in Transits? Auto Running
Thanks Roger,
So JMRI makes it's own decision to take the alternate route in a transit if the primary route is occupied? Have you noticed whether it also chooses the alternative route a track that has been allocated by another train but not yet occupied the same way? or if the approaching train has a higher priority does it un-allocate a lower priority train's allocation for itself, or is the priority feature just when both trains are waiting for the same track? (sorry for piling on the questions...) Cheers Steve Lomax |

Steve,
? ?I just started using the Alternate section in a Transit recently.? ?I have a passenger train coming into a station.? There are two parallel tracks available which diverge, then switch back together on the other side.? Both track sections must have common entrance and exits in the Transit.? If the main track is occupied the Alternate track will be selected if unoccupied. Roger? |
It looks like javaxp-.print.Printservice cannot find the printer in CUPS.
You can print the roster (or what ever) manually via the terminal. For example. Open Roster and select Print List. Click Print to File -----this is what Bob S suggested? Click Print. Select a location. I selected /home/pi/Documents and enter the file name I used out.ps. (My file location will be)???? /home/pi/Documents out.ps and save Open and terminal type lpstat -d This will display your printer name. You can copy it from here to save typing it. my response was system default destination: Samsung_M332x_Series Command to print your Roster. lp -d Samsung_M332x_Series /home/pi/Documents out.ps This will send out.ps to the printer. Make sure to set the options before you save the file. The RPi is a European product so the default paper is A4 not Letter.? You may have to make adjustments in order to get the perfect print but you can print. Copy the command to a text file that way you can copy and paste. You can create a script button yourself to make it easier until the printservice is ironed out. Inobu ? |

Alternative Sections in Transits? Auto Running
Hi
Is there a tutorial or detailed? documentation on? setting up transits and sections for running auto trains in Dispatcher ? , I've had some luck so far with this, but I occasionally get "unexpected" behaviour when I want it to do something in a way? that it's clearly not designed to!? I'm sure it's possible, just a matter finding the right way of going about it. I'm starting again from scratch with a new layout and hope to design it with JMRI in mind at the outset rather than trying to shoe-horn it in later. So far, the path logic looks good and I have SML all working correctly (simulated). This is the layout /g/jmriusers/files/ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/SteveLAlternativeSectionsInTransits Thanks Steve ? -- Steve 009 in UK |

No, they are stock photos from the net. I guess I could try and take my own photo's of the locomotives and try that! Great idea as if any of the acquired photos have a watermark or license lock they would not transfer.

Great idea, the only problem I have is that all my laptops are about the same age, and that about the same age as yours! lol. But what you have said makes the most sense, unfortunately. I just went through my Sessions file and did not find anything useful, but when I got into my messages file just about everything that I have done is listed. I have found one recurring error code that maybe the answer. Not being a coder it is all pretty much Greek to me. but for others who have been reviewing this issue I will include it. As maybe it is a clue we need!
